||This role is open to remote work for those located in the United States and Canada. This role will work primarily on Pacific Time Zone (PST) business hours and requires regular collaboration with Korean-speaking teams; fluency in both English and Korean strongly preferred.II
The person we're looking for:

  • Able to create systems and quality standards for a team of artists.
Responsibilities:
  • Define the project's visual direction and establish and maintain concept art quality standards.
  • Lead the overall visual development of characters, environments, props, etc., and give shape to the art direction.
  • Explore visual directions from the early ideation stage and establish the project's visual language.
  • Collaborate with Art Directors, Design, and 3D teams to ensure concepts are realized in the final in-game output.
  • Review work from team members and outsource artists and provide clear feedback.
  • Build and maintain style guides and visual references.
  • Quickly present alternatives when project direction shifts and reestablish the visual direction.
  • Define the project's overall visual language and design and maintain the standards that align deliverables toward a cohesive direction.
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience for Principal level in game development or equivalent relevant experience, with at least 1 shipped game.
  • Portfolio showcasing photorealistic, high-quality character or environment concept art.
  • Strong visual design capabilities across characters, environments, and other domains.
  • Deep understanding of form, structure, color, and lighting.
  • Ability to produce work ranging from rapid ideation sketches to highly polished concept pieces.
  • Understanding of the 3D production pipeline.
  • Experience leading a team or mentoring artists.
  • Experience communicating clearly and solving problems in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience owning environment art quality and direction and meeting deliverables on a past project.
  • Ability to self-manage, prioritize tasks, and deliver under deadlines.
  • Ability to work during Pacific Time zone business hours (10am-4pm) with weekly ability to meet in the evenings (5-8pm PT) for international collaboration.
  • Ability to travel internationally 1-3 times a year for business purposes.

  • Professional fluency in English and Korean strongly preferred.
  • Experience with style development and building visual guides.
  • Experience working on games developed across multiple countries.
  • Experience working across a variety of game genres and styles.
  • Understanding of the production pipeline including 3D, lighting, and shaders.
  • Experience collaborating with outsource vendors.
  • Experience with storytelling-driven visual development.
  • Multi-platform (PC/Console) development experience.
  • Experience defining visual direction in the early stages of a project and maintaining it through completion.
