JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • A well-known site development company is seeking professional, dynamic, career- oriented, reliable, and motivated individual for a permanent full-time position as a Project Manager/Estimator at our office in Wilmington, NC. MUST HAVE 3D ESTIMATING SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE!
  • This position involves estimating projects and managing site work and utility construction projects. It will require the applicant to manage project budgets and schedules.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage numerous projects while simultaneously completing estimating duties, experienced in using Carlson Civil Software and/or Ag-Tek.
  • Manage site superintendents, vendors, and subcontractors, ensuring projects are within budget and on time.
  • Primary communicator with project owners and/or engineers.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings with the owner, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Develop a complete and accurate bid proposal including quantity take-off; crew composition; material and subcontractor pricing.
  • Negotiate, secure and manage subcontracts.
  • Compare bid pricing to historical data.
  • Read, outline and communicate specifications and plans for superintendents and foremen.
  • Review material submittals, and request approval.
  • Develop and maintain project schedule. Prepare and keep the project progress and budget.
  • Change order pricing and negotiations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 to 10 years experience in site work and utility construction project management. A Construction Management or Civil Engineer degree is desirable.
  • A record of successfully estimating and managing civil site and utility construction projects
  • Have a working knowledge of means and methods, crew composition and production rates for all aspects of civil site and utility construction.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Project Standard scheduling software with the ability to adapt to a variety of computer applications.
  • Cost accounting experience preferred.
  • The ability to work with a team and independently to complete projects within stated deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Follow and reinforce company safety policies.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be ambitious and self-motivated, with a can-do attitude.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
