What does a relocation project manager do?

A Relocation Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of moving a company, department, or individuals from one location to another. Their duties include planning the move, managing budgets and timelines, coordinating with vendors and moving companies, and ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. They also handle communication with stakeholders, address logistical challenges, and ensure that the relocation is completed efficiently and safely.

What are some common challenges faced by relocation project managers during large-scale office moves, and how can they be addressed?

Relocation Project Managers often encounter challenges such as coordinating between multiple departments, adhering to tight timelines, and managing vendor relationships during large-scale office moves. Effective communication and detailed planning are essential to minimize disruptions and ensure all stakeholders are informed throughout the process. Additionally, anticipating potential issues—like IT infrastructure set-up or regulatory compliance—can help the project manager proactively resolve problems. Building strong relationships with both internal teams and external vendors is key to a smooth relocation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a relocation project manager, and why are they important?

Location: Winter Haven, FL
Salary: $85,000 – $95,000 + Performance Bonus
About the Role
A well-established, family-owned civil contractor based in Winter Haven, FL is looking for a driven Project Manager to join their growing team. In business since 1994 and now 220+ employees strong, this company self-performs everything — underground utilities, DOT heavy civil, sitework, clearing, earthwork, paving, and concrete.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Managing heavy civil and underground utility projects from award through closeout
  • Overseeing subcontractors, budgets, schedules, and field coordination
  • Attending pre-construction meetings, owner meetings, and site visits as needed
  • Collaborating closely with estimating and field leadership
  • Driving project performance and profitability
What We're Looking For
  • 3–5 years of total construction experience, with 1–2 years in a relevant PM or project leadership role
  • Background in underground utility, DOT heavy civil, clearing, or earthwork
  • Comfortable in an office-based environment with field exposure
  • Local to Central Florida — relocation is not typically offered
  • Strong communicator with solid organizational and leadership skills
  • Software proficiency a plus (B2W, Agtek, Planswift, Office Suite)
What's on Offer
  • $85,000 – $95,000 base salary
  • Performance-based bonus tied to project outcomes
  • Company vehicle provided
  • 401(k) retirement benefits
  • 2 weeks PTO + paid holidays
  • On-site gym with a personal trainer
  • Immediate start — strong pipeline, stable company
