ROLE SUMMARY

Critical to this mission is the work done within Pharmaceutical Sciences Small Molecule (PSSM), where we take promising new compounds from the discovery labs and transform them into new best-in-class medicines for patients around the world
What You Will Achieve
As a Pharmaceutical Sciences (PharmSci) Project Manager you will provide project management, integrated planning, and resource forecasting to PSSM development teams. You will work at the intersection of Business (e.g., creating/managing project budgets, proving inputs and updates to finance) and Science (e.g., interacting with scientists and technical lines across PharmSci) to enable the successful delivery of your projects. You will gain experience working across multiple therapeutic areas (Oncology, Inflammation and Immunology, and Internal Medicine) and support programs across all phases of development (pre-clinical, Phase 1 to 3 clinical, and through commercialization).
In addition, you will leverage your interests and skills in data analytics, digital tools/systems, and AI technologies to embed AI into our work. You will be responsible for supporting, improving and maintaining our technology solutions.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Integrated Project Planning
  • As a member of the PharmSci Project Team, the Project Manager works with the PharmSci Team Lead (technical project lead) and full cross-functional team to deliver program outcomes within the forecasted timeline and budget.
  • Participates in project team meetings and seeks input from team members from PharmSci Science & Technology lines (e.g., Drug Product Design, Analytical R&D, Chemical R&D) to ensure accurate internal (FTE) and external forecasts.
  • Partner with Finance to support quarterly forecast updates and annual operating plan / budget build; track purchase orders and accruals to maintain forecast accuracy for assigned programs.
  • Maintain accurate and high-quality project plans and proactively identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement to the plan and forecast.

Data Analytics
  • Develop scenarios to "base plan" to support project strategy changes (technical, clinical, timeline changes) and prepare detailed analysis of cost / timeline comparisons.
  • Prepare project analytics to support decision making and Operating Plan processes; summarize assumptions, key drivers, and insights.
  • Enable self-service analytics by leveraging approved BI/visualization tools (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau, Power BI, Business Objects) and analytics platforms (e.g., Dataiku) to reduce manual Excel work.

Digital Tools, Systems, and AI Deployment
  • Become a skilled practitioner in the Pfizer "RAPID" enterprise planning and forecasting ecosystem. This includes mastery of Pfizer's enterprise-wide deployment of Planisware and other supporting systems such as Business Objects, etc.
  • Build and design AI-enabled capabilities (tools, systems, and workflows) to drive productivity, automation, real-time access to data.
  • Serve as Business System Owner for custom portfolio systems, including oversight for system maintenance, user interface design, back-end data structures, and continuous improvement.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.S. with 8+ years of experience or M.S./MBA degree with 6+ years of experience in scientific or engineering discipline.
  • Ability to establish and develop strong working relationships within a matrix organization and team-based environment.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with ability to convert large and complex datasets into charts, graphs, and slides, with explanation / insights clearly articulated
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work products and communications.
  • Able to work under tight timelines, multi-task, and prioritize one's work to meet key deadlines.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Direct work experience in Pharmaceutical Development / CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing & Controls) within a large pharmaceutical company, small biotech, or CDMO (contract development and manufacturing organization).
  • Knowledge and experience building new solutions using contemporary AI platforms and tools (e.g. configuring Snowflake semantic layers for AI/LLM queries).
  • Experience as business system owner for a custom application and management of system releases working with digital/technical teams.
  • Experience with data reporting and visualization tools and platforms, such as Business Objects, Spotfire, Tableau, and/or PowerBI.
  • Experience working within an enterprise project management tool/system (Planisware or equivalent).

Work Location Assignment: This is a hybrid role requiring you to live within commuting distance and work on-site an average of 2.5 days per week or more as needed.
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $99,200.00 to $165,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
