What you will do: 
The Aviation Security Director (ASD) shall report directly to the VP of Homeland Defense and is responsible for the overall operational leadership, administration, and performance of all security services. This individual will ensure full compliance with all applicable federal regulations, including Title 49 C.F.R. Part 1542, and will oversee all assigned security personnel and post operations. 
 
The ASD will be assigned on a full-time basis (Monday–Friday, 8 hours per day) and must be available on a 24/7/365 basis to respond to incidents, emergencies, and operational requirements. 
 
Key Responsibilities 
  • Provide overall operational leadership and administrative direction for all contract security operations.  
  • Ensure full compliance with Title 49 C.F.R. Part 1542 and all TSA, airport, and regulatory requirements.  
  • Oversee and manage all security officers and supervisory personnel, including staffing, scheduling, performance management, and discipline.  
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of each assigned post, including operational procedures, staffing requirements, and risk profiles.  
  • Serve as the primary on-site liaison with airport stakeholders, TSA representatives, law enforcement, and other partners.  
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance, training, and performance standards across all posts.  
  • Lead incident response and crisis management, ensuring timely reporting, documentation, and corrective actions.  
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and post orders.  
  • Ensure proper onboarding, training, and certification of all personnel in accordance with contract requirements.  
  • Monitor and manage contract performance metrics, staffing levels, and service delivery standards.  
  • Provide regular reports, briefings, and updates to the Contract Security Manager.  
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews. 
 
Minimum Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Security Management, or a closely related field
    OR  
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of aviation/security management experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree  
  • Minimum of five (5) years of aviation/security management experience, including:  
    • Demonstrated knowledge of airport security operations and regulatory compliance  
    • Proven experience managing large-scale security operations and personnel 
 
Preferred Qualifications 
  • AAAE Airport Certified Employee (ACE) – Security designation  
    • Required within two (2) years of contract start date  
  • AAAE Certified Member (CM) designation (preferred)  
  • Experience in a large hub airport environment  
  • Prior Law Enforcement Experience  
 
Travel and Telecommuting: 
  • Telecommute Option: Little (less than 10%)

Compensation, Benefits & Application Information: 
This position supports a proposal effort and may be proposed as Key Personnel for a client contract. Employment and assignment are contingent upon contract award, funding authorization, and any required client approvals.  
  • Anticipated salary range: $125,000 to $140,000 annually
