Job Summary
The Process Safety Management (PSM) Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating the Process Safety Management program at Tyson Foods. This position ensures compliance with OSHA PSM standards and applicable safety regulations by evaluating work environments and developing programs and procedures to prevent injuries, illnesses, and incidents related to chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards. The role partners with cross-functional teams to implement safety initiatives, conduct risk assessments, and support a culture of safety.
Job Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Process Safety Management program in accordance with OSHA standards and company policies.
  • Create, review, and maintain PSM documentation, including process safety information, operating procedures, and emergency response plans.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and compliance reviews; document findings and track corrective actions.
  • Perform and facilitate hazard analyses, including Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), and collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance to implement risk mitigation measures.
  • Develop and deliver PSM training for employees, contractors, and management; ensure required training compliance.
  • Lead investigations of process-related incidents and near misses; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and coordinate emergency response plans, drills, and preparedness activities for PSM-covered processes.
  • Communicate PSM requirements, program status, and updates to employees, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
  • Prioritize PSM responsibilities when additional tasks are assigned.
  • Serve as the point of contact for Asset Watch vibration alerts, including investigation and coordination of next steps.
  • Provide operational support as needed, including assistance with equipment storage areas, forklift operation, support to Electrical Technicians, and assistance to other managers, including the Refrigeration Manager.

Job Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field.

Experience
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in Process Safety Management, preferably in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA PSM standards and applicable safety regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of process safety principles and practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and safety management systems.

Certifications
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification preferred.

Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in office and production environments.
  • Occasional travel may be required for training, audits, or inspections.
