Position Overview


The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations for our West Coast Record Labels, Publishing Groups and Management Companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, and managing the preparation of financial reports. This role involves leading a team of accountants, overseeing general ledger activities, and ensuring the timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes. The Accounting Manager plays a key role in maintaining internal controls, analyzing financial data, and supporting audits.


This is a full-time, hybrid role based in our Santa Monica office, with in-person collaboration 3 days per week and remote work 2 days per week. Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to the greater Los Angeles area at their own expense prior to their start date โ€” we are not offering relocation assistance for this role, though it may be considered on a case-by-case basis for select candidates.


Key Responsibilities


  • Supervise and lead the accounting team in charge of West Coast Label, Publishing and Management activity, providing guidance and support.
  • Manage and supervise month-end close tasks as assigned including preparation and review of journal entries, analysis, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Own and maintain the capitalization and provision process for the Artist subledger.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Oversee the preparation, maintenance, and review of financial statements and reports.
  • Standardize, streamline, and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data to provide insights for decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies and procedures, financial regulations, and contractual obligations.
  • Provide necessary documentation and leverage project management skills to support external and internal audits.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with key business operations leaders, and be the point of contact for any accounting related issues for West Coast Label operations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
  • Escalating risks and issues as necessary to leadership.


Qualifications


  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience with 2+ years in a supervisory/leadership role.
  • CPA certification required
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting
  • Public accounting experience required (Big4 or Regional).
  • Proactive, self-motivated and results oriented with strong sense of ownership
  • Proven experience as an Accounting Manager or in a senior accounting role with management responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in managing the entire recording to reporting processes.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles with the ability to implement and enforce financial and reporting policies and standards in compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • ERP systems experience with a preference towards SAP
  • Proven experience in leading and motivating a team, setting performance goals, and managing workloads.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, meet tight deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Ability to identify process improvement and automation opportunities to drive positive change across the organization.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong computer skills and highly proficient with Microsoft Excel (advanced).
  • Strong communication and effective interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.

Salary Range


The salary range for this job is $130,000 to $150,000. This is a good faith effort at the time of posting. This range is base salary only and does not include benefits and any other compensatory components of the role.
