Job description

AMECO, a North American leader in Construction Site Services, Product Distribution, and Equipment Rental is seeking a Welder. This position is based out of our Harrison, OH facility.


The Fabricator/Welder is responsible for welding, fabricating, and repairing components from drawings, blueprints, and sample parts. A self-starter who displays a strong work ethic and a commitment to quality workmanship. Based on our small team environment dependability is critical, including the ability to work overtime when needed. This is a day shift position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welding, fabricating, and repairing components from drawings, blueprints, and sample parts.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with team members and internal/external customers.
  • Compliance with all company policies/procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Ensures work areas are organized efficiently while maintaining security/safety measures.
  • Upholds AMECOโ€™s productivity, quality, and safety standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Necessary overtime as the workload dictates.

Education Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates must have a minimum of three years of welding and fabrication experience.
  • Must be highly proficient and able to pass AWS D1.1 and D1.5 certifications in: FCAW (3G & 4G CERTS), GMAW (1G, including spray transfer on heavy steel) and SMAW (3G & 4G CERTS) processes.
  • Skills in brake, shear, grinders, and fabrication equipment.
  • Shop environment utilizing SMAW, GMAW and FCAW processes.
  • Heavy fabrication and repair experience is preferred.
  • Capable of working at a fast pace
  • Self-motivated, self-reliant, able to work with little direction.
  • Reliable/dependable (prompt, with good attendance)
  • Capable of multi-tasking and able to change direction or focus as priorities dictate.

Certifications, Licenses, Registration: Able to pass AWS D1.1 and D1.5 certifications in: FCAW (3G & 4G CERTS), GMAW (1G, including spray transfer on heavy steel) and SMAW (3G & 4G CERTS) processes.

Physical Demands/Requirements:

Based on the type of equipment we work on, the job is physical and labor intensive, i.e., heavy lifting, climbing on equipment and grinding out of position. Individuals will be required to frequently sit/drive stand, walk, lift/carry, reach, stoop, push/pull, handle/grasp/feel, talk, hear, climb step ladder, engage in repetitive motions, and demonstrate eye/hand/foot coordination. Close vision is required for this job. Employees are required to regularly lift, carry and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Position frequently demands light to heavy physical work. All positions require standing over 90% of the day.

Work Environment:

  • This position is based in a welding/fabrication shop setting.
  • Role involves working alone and collaborating as part of a team. Often required to work at a fast pace to meet deadlines, thus some stress may occur.
  • Environmental conditions include frequent exposure to heat, temperature changes, noise, and humidity.
  • Occasionally the performance of this position will require exposure to production/manufacturing areas, which may result in being near moving mechanical parts or being exposed to fumes or airborne particles. These respective areas will require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, hearing protection or hard hats. The noise level in the production/manufacturing areas is usually loud.

Travel/Other Requirements: Availability as requested/required for after-hour emergency calls, necessary overtime as the workload dictates.
