Job description

Reliant Mechanical is a full-service mechanical contracting firm operating in the industrial, commercial, institutional, and residential segments and we are hiring! We have 100+ associates based in Ohio skilled in installation, maintenance and repairs of heating, cooling and refrigeration systems, equipment, plumbing and fixtures, process piping, sheet metal and structural steel.
We are adding a Commercial / Industrial Service Technician to our growing team! The Service Technician is responsible for performing routine and emergency maintenance on HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and facility infrastructure in commercial and industrial environments. This role emphasizes planned preventative maintenance to ensure reliable system operation, minimize downtime, and support efficient building performance. The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, and experienced in maintaining critical equipment in active production or commercial facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute planned preventive maintenance (PPM) tasks on HVAC systems, pumps, motors, fans, and facility mechanical systems.
  • Inspect and maintain air handlers, boilers, chillers, rooftop units, exhaust systems, and control components.
  • Perform corrective maintenance and repairs on equipment identified during inspections or service calls.
  • Maintain and update service logs, maintenance records, and digital work orders accurately.
  • Support asset management efforts by documenting system performance, failures, and replacements.
  • Collaborate with building engineers, vendors, and other technicians to resolve complex issues.
  • Monitor and maintain building systems including plumbing, basic electrical, and general facility support as needed.
  • Troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime in production-critical areas or tenant-occupied commercial spaces.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with codes and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in after-hours emergency maintenance response rotation.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training in HVAC or mechanical systems preferred.
  • 5+ years of commercial or industrial maintenance experience.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and schedules.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, building automation, and mechanical/electrical troubleshooting.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification required (Universal preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background screening and drug screening.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds, work in elevated areas, and perform physically demanding tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in manufacturing, hospitals, or data center environments.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • OSHA 10/30 certification or equivalent safety training.

Physical Demands amp; Work Environment:
  • Frequently required to lift, move, and carry equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Work includes standing for long periods, climbing ladders, and working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, or industrial environments.
  • Exposure to active production floors, outdoor elements, and occasional confined spaces with varying noise levels and temperatures.
