Job description

RELIABILITY MAINTENANCE ENGINEER
Role Summary
This role manages the Mechanical Integrity, PM and PdM programs for the plant. Collects and analyzes process equipment performance data to extend equipment life. Performs failure analysis on process equipment to determine corrective actions to prevent failures and extend equipment life. Works with project engineering during all phases of capital projects to ensure equipment reliability and maintenance considerations are taken into account and is the site maintenance representative on the project.
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the gathering and analysis of plant reliability data.
  • Serves as the liaison between the plant and project engineering for capital projects.
  • Responsible for maintaining the PM programs including documentation.
  • Responsible for failure analysis and development of recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Maintain critical equipment list.
  • Owner of Mechanical Integrity Program.
  • Owner of Car Seal Program.
  • Owner of the MOC Program.
  • Works with maintenance personnel to implement improvements to equipment.
  • Manages reliability improvement projects.
  • Develop Project Charters for maintenance related capital funding requests.
  • PSM program compliance focal point specifically related to mechanical or reliability components.
  • Provide technical support and training on new equipment.
  • Ensure that the facility equipment and machines are maintained properly and working correctly.
  • Coordinate work performed by outside contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants.
  • Assist in resolving all technical maintenance issues.
  • Write, review, and recommend improvements to Standard Operating Procedures, especially those pertaining to maintenance. Maintain and develop plant drawings and standards as appropriate.
  • Ensure the organization complies with safety regulations while maintenance takes place.

Competencies
Required:
  • Minimum of a BS in Engineering, preferably mechanical or chemical.
  • At least 2 years of industrial experience, preferably in a chemical manufacturing facility.
  • Demonstrated field experience in analyzing and determining needed corrective action in maintenance and project areas including leadership abilities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of PSM Elements and experience implementing and maintaining Mechanical Integrity and PM programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of ASME code for vessels and piping.
  • Familiarity with managing plant equipment using a computer-based maintenance management system.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven team player with good peer, subordinate and superior relationship skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of failure analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability in continuous improvement.
  • Budgeting and accounting skills necessary to cost effectively manage projects and maintenance.
  • Ability to make progress on multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Ability to balance short and long-term plant needs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Due to the safety-sensitive nature of this job, the incumbent must take and pass regular and routine chemical dependency tests.
