JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Automatic Press Operator (APO)
GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position includes but not limited to: The set-up and operation of Automatic Presses equipped with coil feed lines.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Controls the operation of the press and is responsible for the safety of those assigned to work with them when applicable.
  • Operate Lift Trucks and overhead cranes for placement and/or removal of dies and equipment required for JCO
  • Assists Die Setters and/or Line tenders with JCO's Start to Finish
  • Loads coils onto uncoiler, threads coil through feed line assuring proper alignment to die, adjusting set and pitch properly.
  • Set-up all necessary items required to make job production ready-Guarding , bins , part exit conveyors, chutes, scrap shakers, die lubricant (Drawing Compound), Sensors, etc........
  • Performs adjustments, calibrations, alignments and modifications of automation systems and components when required assuring part Quality and performance is meet.
  • Once JCO is complete running equipment assuring process is stable and parts off meets minimal visual inspection prior to calling for first piece.
  • At least once per hour required to verify the parts they are producing meets quality standards and reports any concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Advises supervisor when equipment does not meet proper capability to perform task efficiently so the appropriate skilled trades can be contacted.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES / EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  1. Must pass written mechanical aptitude/knowledge test.
  2. Requires the ability to read instructions and perform tasks as instructed.
  3. Ability to read, comprehend and navigate through multiple HMI screens.
  4. Knowledge of Die Protection units such as Rexcon, smart-pac, wintriss, etc......
  5. Knowledge of Coil feedlines, Straighteners adjusting set and feeders adjusting pitch, pilot release, etc............
  6. Must be able to communicate in technical terms and relay information to other persons involved in equipment operation and maintenance.
  7. Use hand tools, lubricants, etc, and such hand devices as needed for a safe operation.
  8. Demonstrate a good Attendance record
  9. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs., bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel, stand or walk continuously in close, confined surroundings.
  10. Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required including high school math and reading proficiency, all additional education from college to training seminars in this related field is a plus.
  11. Must be able to work mandatory OT as required 6-7 days per week.
