Job description

Role Summary

The Regional Training Manager provides hands-on training & development for frontline staff in Sterile Processing (SPD), Endoscopy (ENDO) Reprocessing, and the Operating Room (OR) across assigned hospital accounts in New York City. This role focuses on side-by-side, in-the-field training, ensuring staff are confident and competent in meeting quality, safety, and compliance standards. The Manager works directly with technicians, surgical teams, and leadership to drive consistency, skill development, and operational excellence. This position reports to the Regional Operations Director.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver on-the-job training for SPD, ENDO and OR staff, including orientation for new hires, skills refreshers for current employees, and support during new account implementations.
  • Work in SPD, ENDO and OR environments to demonstrate and reinforce proper practices in decontamination, assembly, sterilization, case preparation, instrumentation handling, and surgical setup.
  • Observe staff in action, providing real-time coaching, correction, and feedback.
  • Ensure all staff understand and consistently follow established policies, procedures, and compliance requirements, and are fully prepared for Joint Commission surveys.
  • Support staff in preparing for CRCST certification and other role-specific training.
  • Partner with supervisors, lead technicians, and OR leadership to identify training needs and address performance or competency gaps.
  • Act as a resource for staff during daily operations, answering questions and troubleshooting challenges.
  • Assist with onboarding during new site setups, expansions, and role transitions.
  • Promote collaboration and communication between SPD, ENDO and OR teams to support safe, efficient surgical care.
  • Provide in-service training on current and newly introduced equipment in collaboration with manufacturers.
  • Maintain training records, competency checklists, and provide progress reports to leadership.
  • Travel throughout NYC hospitals to deliver consistent training across sites

 Necessary Skills and Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of sterile processing standards, endo reprocessing, instrumentation, and operating room protocols.
  • Ability to demonstrate technical skills and surgical setup practices directly to staff.
  • Effective communication skills, able to bridge training between SPD, ENDO and OR teams.
  • Comfortable working in high-paced, procedural environments with strict deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to build trust with staff at all levels.
  • Organized and dependable, with the ability to manage multiple site training schedules.
  • Skilled in problem-solving and adapting training to different hospital settings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting.

 Qualifications

  • CRCST certification required.
  • CST certification preferred, and CER certification a plus (or willingness to obtain).
  • 3+ years of experience in sterile processing, with exposure to endoscopy reprocessing and/or operating room environments preferred.
  • Prior experience training, mentoring, or coaching staff preferred.
  • Knowledge of OR video tower components.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and accrediting bodies (AAMI, IAHCSMM, Joint Commission).
  • Willingness to travel throughout NYC hospitals; flexibility to work evenings/weekends as needed.
