Job description

Regional Registered Dietitian

The Regional Registered Dietitian provides clinical nutrition leadership and regulatory oversight for three multiple skilled nursing facilities. This position ensures compliance with federal and Florida regulations, develops nutrition standards, improves resident outcomes, supports interdisciplinary care planning, and serves as a clinical resource for dietary managers and nursing leadership. The Regional Dietitian collaborates closely with the Administrator, Director of Nursing, Medical Director, and interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality nutritional care throughout the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete comprehensive nutrition assessments for residents identified as high risk.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plans.
  • Evaluate residents with:
    • Significant weight changes
    • Pressure injuries
    • Tube feeding
    • Malnutrition
    • Dysphagia
    • Diabetes
    • Renal disease
    • Wound healing concerns
  • Monitor nutritional interventions and modify care plans as needed.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • CMS Conditions of Participation
    • Florida AHCA regulations
    • F-tags related to nutrition services
  • Assist facilities in survey preparation.
  • Participate during state and federal surveys.
  • Develop Plans of Correction related to nutrition services.
  • Conduct mock surveys and regulatory audits.
  • Monitor nutrition quality indicators including:
    • Weight loss
    • Significant weight gain
    • Pressure injuries
    • Malnutrition
    • Hydration concerns
  • Participate in QAPI meetings.
  • Identify trends across all facilities.
  • Recommend corrective actions and monitor outcomes.
  • Support Dietary Managers regarding:
    • Menu planning
    • Therapeutic diets
    • Special nutritional needs
    • Food fortification
    • Supplements
  • Review menus for nutritional adequacy.
  • Ensure therapeutic diets comply with physician orders.
  • Evaluate food quality and resident satisfaction.
  • Develop nutrition-related policies and procedures.
  • Standardize forms and documentation across facilities.
  • Maintain required documentation.
  • Prepare monthly reports for executive leadership.
  • Assist with departmental budgeting related to nutritional supplements.
  • Support purchasing decisions related to clinical nutrition products.
  • Travel regularly between all three facilities.
  • Standardize nutrition practices.
  • Mentor Dietary Managers.
  • Participate in leadership meetings.
  • Assist with new facility acquisitions and transitions as assigned.

Qualifications Required

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
  • Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist in the State of Florida
  • Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field
  • Minimum three years of clinical dietitian experience
  • Minimum two years in long-term care or skilled nursing
  • Knowledge of CMS regulations and Florida AHCA requirements

Preferred

  • Five or more years of long-term care experience
  • Multi-facility oversight experience
  • QAPI experience
  • Experience with PointClickCare or other long-term care EHR systems
