Mortgage Regional Closing & Funding Manager
Job Description
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting the Closing Manager with a staff that is closing and funding complex conventional and government residential loans; ensuring loans are closed in accordance with the bank's and secondary market investors' standards; training and coaching staff members when needed; providing guidance to support staff; and recommending modifications to closing procedures and policies.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
  • Maintains proficiency on all products offered by First United, demonstrating exemplary service and quality standards.
  • Manages teams of internal Closers and Funders who are aligned with specific markets/region.
  • Assists with daily closing file distribution and reporting.
  • Assists with month end closing management responsibilities, ensuring all data for monthly production is final and balanced with accounting and servicing before cutoff timeframe.
  • Provides ongoing training and coaching to develop closing staff, ensuring everyone achieves and maintains mastery of closing documentation review, and preparing Closing Disclosures and documents for data integrity, program requirements and regulatory compliance.
  • Provides ongoing training and coaching to develop funding staff, ensuring mastery of all funding tasks within their first 90 days and creating a career path with cross-training for closing opportunities, working toward an end goal for covering a closing and funding pipeline with 'end to end' service.
  • Monitors wires for funding volume to ensure all funds are wired out in advance of funding, and any funds due to First United are received within one business day.
  • Assist with escalations normally handled by the Closing Manager, during managers absence, using personal best judgement and following example set by Ops and Senior Management in prior scenarios.
  • Acts as a liaison between management and frontline associates, including contract employees and attorney vendor teams.
  • May, as required, handle more complex and high-profile transactions.
  • Provides technical assistance to closers, loan originators, processors, and underwriters to enhance volume, accuracy, efficiency and maintain superior customer service.
  • Acts as a resource to Sales and Operations teammates for technical closing knowledge, and complex or atypical Closing scenarios. Completes research and/or escalation to manager, compliance, or attorneys where necessary to ensure proper guidance is provided, allowing front line users to confidently proceed in compliance with all regulatory, compliance and investor requirements.
  • Requires effective communication with customers, title companies and / or internal partners for issue resolution.
  • Keeps abreast of market conditions in the geographic areas where mortgage loans will be originated; evaluates, analyzes, and distributes applicable changes and updates to closing staff when necessary; recommend modifications to closing procedures/standards; responds to audits in a timely manner.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES
  • Performs other duties as requested by Executive Management or Supervisor.
  • Completes all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.
  • Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures.
  • Dresses professionally.
  • Recommends to supervisor possible methods to improve department.

Education and Work Experience
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelors degree and a minimum of 2+ years of residential mortgage loan closing or a high school diploma with equivalent work related experience of 5+ years.
Technical/Functional Competencies
  • Thorough knowledge of closing and funding procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of closing and title criteria as well as guidelines and government regulations associated with various loan types (i.e., FHLMC, FNMA, FHA, VA, Conventional, and Private Investor).
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Good PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to handle a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Encompass experience a plus.
