Job description

Description:

The Regional Business Manager holds ultimate responsibility for the health, growth, and reputation of the regional office. This role reports directly to the Director of Regional Operations and maintains a dotted-line partnership with the VP of Growth & Strategy on regional business development and growth initiatives. This role is not a technical position and does not require an engineering or surveying background; instead, it calls for a strong business leader who can get in, learn the business, and drive it forward. The Regional Business Manager is the face of Sebago Technics in the region, building relationships with municipalities, town leadership, chambers of commerce, and community organizations, while ensuring that projects, budgets, and people are all moving in the right direction. This person partners closely with Project Managers to understand project successes and barriers and works in tandem with them to solve problems, and partners with the Director of Logistics and Scheduling to keep projects staffed and on schedule in service of client needs. Just as important, this person sets the tone for the office day to day: they bring energy, engagement, and visible enthusiasm to the team, and are directly responsible for building a regional culture that people want to be part of.

Requirements:

Responsibilities

Community and Business Development

• Represent Sebago Technics at chamber of commerce events and other community and industry functions, building the relationships that generate new business.

• Identify, pursue, and develop new business opportunities, external partners, clients, and projects for the region.

• Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies.

• Respond to inquiries from the regional call log in a timely manner, ensuring every prospective client hears back promptly.

• Maintain a dotted-line partnership with the VP of Growth & Strategy, collaborating on regional business development, growth initiatives, and strategic priorities.

• Loop in the VP of Growth & Strategy on major new business opportunities, community relationships, and market trends relevant to the region.

Reporting to the Director of Regional Operations

• Report directly to the Director of Regional Operations, who holds solid-line management responsibility for this role.

• Provide regular updates to the Director of Regional Operations on regional performance, priorities, and concerns, including a standing weekly check-in.

• Escalate significant client, project, or personnel issues to the Director of Regional Operations in a timely manner.

Project and Financial Ownership

• Hold business-level responsibility for the region's projects, including regional billing and marketing adjustments and documenting scope creep, while project management and technical direction remain with the Project Managers.

• Work in close partnership with Project Managers to understand the successes and barriers of their projects, and work in tandem with them to facilitate solutions.

• Review project and team chargeability regularly to ensure fiscally sound practices, escalating budget concerns early.

• Maintain a portfolio-level view of the region's projects and communicate status to leadership.

Scheduling and Resource Coordination

• Work with the Director of Logistics and Scheduling to ensure projects are scheduled well in service of client needs, balancing deadlines with team availability.

• Flag scheduling conflicts, capacity constraints, or resourcing gaps early so they can be resolved collaboratively.

• Coordinate ETO requests and out-of-office coverage with discipline supervisors to keep projects on track.

People Leadership and Performance Management

• Hold full responsibility for the performance management of the regional team.

• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members and quarterly performance conversations.

• Support the yearly goals process, helping team members set goals and assessing progress against them.

• Partner proactively with leadership and HR to identify and address performance issues early, rather than waiting for them to become entrenched.

• Coach and celebrate successes, and work with HR on a clear path forward when performance does not improve despite support.

• Own the day-to-day energy of the office: create visible engagement, connection, and enthusiasm across the team, and set a tone from the top that makes the regional office a place people want to be.

• Monitor training, licensure, and professional development needs of team members and coordinate opportunities to meet them.

• Aid in the recruitment and onboarding process to build a strong, engaged regional team.

General

• Serve as a conduit of information within the regional team, across departments, and to and from leadership.

• Work collaboratively with all Sebago Technics offices, sharing resources, knowledge, and best practices rather than operating in a silo.

• Remain current in industry standards, market trends, and best practices relevant to the region.

• Actively support and model Sebago policies, procedures, safety guidelines, and all other matters found in the Employee Owner Manual.

Other duties as assigned.
