Job description

WRA is currently seeking an experienced  Transportation - Water Resources Engineer in our Pittsburgh, PA regional office. Our clientele includes a wide range of state and local agencies including PennDOT, PA Turnpike Commission, and numerous PA municipalities. Candidate will work with other WRA offices on projects in other regions as well. Responsibilities will include hydrologic/hydraulic (H/H) studies and drainage, stormwater management (SWM) and erosion/sediment control (ESC) design primarily for transportation projects. Duties also include environmental permit and contract document development; quality control/peer reviews; marketing and business development support; and staff mentoring and development. Experience on PennDOT projects is required and experience with the PA Turnpike or PA municipalities is a plus.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 5-10 years of hydrology/hydraulics/drainage/SWM/ESC design experience
  • Licensed as a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Pennsylvania or the ability to obtain within 6 months through comity from another state
  • Experience designing drainage, stormwater management systems/BMP’s, erosion and sediment pollution controls; and preparing contract documents; experience with PA Turnpike Commission, and PA municipalities a plus
  • Knowledge of PennDOT/PA Turnpike specifications, policies, and procedures preferred
  • Experience with H/H design software including HY-8, NRCS (TR-55/TR-20); HydroCAD, StreamStats, HEC-RAS, et. al.
  • Hands-on experience with MicroStation CADD software. Understanding of 3D design, including OpenRoads Designer, a plus. 
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
