Job description

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides clinical and administrative support to physicians and the care team to promote safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care. This role is responsible for preparing patients and exam rooms, assisting with procedures, performing authorized clinical tasks, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring compliance with practice policies, confidentiality standards, and the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Care and Clinical Support
  • Greet patients warmly upon arrival and during the rooming process.
  • Obtain and document the patient's chief complaint, reason for visit, and relevant health and family history in the electronic health record.
  • Measure, record, and report vital signs, including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and temperature; promptly notify the provider of abnormal or significant findings.
  • Prepare and drape patients appropriately for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Assist physicians and other licensed providers during patient examinations, treatments, and minor surgical procedures.
  • Administer treatments, medications, and injections as ordered by the provider and within the MA's authorized scope of practice; document all care accurately and timely.
  • Provide approved written instructions to patients regarding preparation for ordered tests, procedures, and treatments.
  • Ensure all patient documentation and charting are completed accurately by the end of each workday.

Laboratory, Equipment, and Infection Control
  • Perform CLIA-waived testing in accordance with established policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Complete required quality assurance and quality control activities related to testing, equipment, and patient care processes.
  • Collect, label, prepare, and package specimens appropriately for laboratory transportation.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment, including examination rooms, instruments, and equipment.
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical instruments and equipment according to infection prevention standards and practice protocols.
  • Stock examination rooms, monitor clinical supply levels, and assist with inventory maintenance and ordering needs.

Administrative and Communication Support
  • Answer telephone calls, obtain detailed messages, and document patient communication accurately in the patient record.
  • Respond to patient communications and route complete, timely messages to the appropriate provider or team member in accordance with practice protocols.
  • Scan, file, and maintain patient charts, records, and other clinical documentation.
  • Perform assigned clerical and administrative duties to support efficient office operations and patient flow.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy standards.

Teamwork and Professional Conduct
  • Support the training, development, and skill-building of other Medical Assistants through collaboration, coaching, and sharing best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, providers, staff, and patients as an active member of the care team.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, respect, compassion, and excellent customer service with patients, families, visitors, providers, and coworkers.
  • Adhere at all times to the Medical Assistant scope of practice, organizational policies, employee handbook, safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $ 23/hour to $25 /hour ; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, licensure, skills, and experience.
The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

Education /Experience
Medical Assistant II
  • Two to five years of experience in a medical office or outpatient clinical setting and/or current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a medical assisting program preferred.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification, or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and electronic health record systems.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Primary care and/or specialty-care experience preferred.

Schedule Requirements :
  • Be able to work three ( 3) 12 hour shifts and every other weekend.
