What is IT consulting?

IT consulting involves providing expert advice and guidance to organizations on how to best use information technology to meet their business objectives. IT consultants assess a company's technology needs, develop strategies, and help implement solutions that can improve efficiency, security, and productivity. Services can include system integration, cybersecurity, cloud migration, and IT infrastructure management. The goal is to align technology with business goals, optimize processes, and solve technical challenges.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an IT consultant?

To thrive as an IT Consultant, you need strong analytical abilities, in-depth knowledge of IT systems, and a relevant degree such as computer science or information technology. Familiarity with project management tools, cybersecurity protocols, and certifications like CompTIA, Cisco, or PMP are often required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and client management skills set outstanding IT Consultants apart. These skills ensure the ability to deliver effective solutions that align with client goals and adapt to evolving technology landscapes.

What are some common challenges IT consultants face when working with clients on island-based projects?

IT consultants working on island-based projects often encounter unique challenges such as limited access to technical resources, logistical constraints due to geographic isolation, and the need to adapt solutions to fit smaller, community-driven infrastructures. Effective communication and flexibility are essential, as consultants may need to coordinate remotely with off-island teams or vendors. Building strong relationships with local stakeholders and understanding regional regulatory requirements can also be critical to delivering successful outcomes.

What’s a CONSULTING COORDINATOR?

Mann is looking for skilled IT professionals to join our team. This is a full-time salaried position with benefits and considerable opportunity for development and advancement. Consulting Coordinators are exposed to a broad range of technical projects and roles including consulting services, troubleshooting, developing applications and process automation. This is an onsite position at our San Francisco office.

The CC role is the first line of communication that many clients have with our firm: fielding dozens of inquiries, assigning to the right specialist or colleague, completing items that you can do yourself, enlisting the help of other resources so that you can stretch your skills and learning.

We're a top consultancy in SF Bay Area, supporting over 300 businesses annually, ranked multiple years as one of the fastest growing small businesses in San Francisco. We offer assistance in help desk, strategic planning, network support, onboarding/offboarding, systems automation, security, and office moves and buildouts.

Despite all this growth, we’re a very stable company as well: privately held, family-owned, and over 25 years in business. We have an absolutely super team of folks helping hundreds of small businesses and thousands of people. You bring the tech skills and a strong desire to learn and help people. We provide you with the tools, systems, a fantastic administrative team and the training to do great work.

We offer 401K, profit-sharing, medical, dental, paid-time-off, commuter checks, wellness reimbursement and more. Our office is located in SOMA, 5 minutes from BART and MUNI.
