Machine Refurbishment Floor Technician
ABOUT THE ROLE
As part of the SANY America's team, SANY America is seeking an experienced
Machine Refurbishment Floor Technician to disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly, and testing of SANY equipment as part of the machine refurbishment program. Working under the direction of the Machine Refurbishment Floor Lead, the technician performs component removal and replacement, system diagnostics as well as quality checks to ensure all refurbished machines are returned to service while meeting established SANY performance and safety standards.
With current revenues over $500 million, SANY America continues to make strong progress and significant investments in the Americas market; the organization is now pursuing an aggressive growth strategy and is looking to move quickly beyond this initial platform and increase their market share.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Disassembly & Component Removal
- Safely remove major and minor components including engines, transmissions, hydraulic assemblies, axles, electrical harnesses, and structural parts following SANY service procedures.
- Inspect removed components for wear, damage, and serviceability; document and report findings to the Floor Lead.
- Properly clean, tag, and stage components and assemblies for inspection, reuse, or disposal.
- Repair & Reassembly
- Install replacement components and assemblies in accordance with SANY specifications and torque requirements.
- Perform adjustments, calibrations, and alignments as required during reassembly.
- Complete reassembly checklists and ensure all fasteners, fittings, and connections are properly secured before system testing.
System Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
- Diagnose and repair issues across machine systems including hydraulics, electrical/electronics, powertrain, aftertreatment (DEF/SCR/DPF), and auxiliary systems.
- Utilize diagnostic software, service manuals, and schematics to identify faults and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Escalate complex or unresolved diagnostic findings to the Floor Lead for further evaluation.
Testing & Quality
- Perform operational and functional tests on repaired systems and fully reassembled machines.
- Identify and correct any deficiencies found during testing prior to final inspection.
- Complete all required documentation including work orders, parts usage, inspection records, and test results.
Safety & Shop Standards
- Adhere to all safety policies, PPE requirements, and proper lifting and rigging procedures when handling heavy components.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workstation and contribute to overall shop housekeeping.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and team training sessions as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of hands-on experience servicing or repairing heavy construction, agricultural, or industrial equipment.
- Working knowledge of at least two or more of the following systems: hydraulics, electrical, powertrain, or aftertreatment.
- Ability to read and interpret basic hydraulic schematics, wiring diagrams, and service documentation.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and standard shop equipment.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions and work effectively within a team environment.
PREFERRED
- OEM or manufacturer-specific training certifications (e.g., SANY, Cat, John Deere, Komatsu, CNH, or equivalent).
- Experience in a remanufacturing, rebuild, or refurbishment shop environment.
- Familiarity with electronic diagnostic tools and service software platforms.
- Technical diploma or Associate's degree in Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment, or a related field.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Regularly required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs; heavier components with mechanical assistance.
- Must be able to stand, kneel, bend, crouch, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Frequent use of hand and power tools throughout the workday.
- Exposure to noise, grease, oils, fluids, and varying temperatures typical of a heavy equipment shop environment.
