What is a refurbished job?

A refurbished job typically involves restoring, repairing, or upgrading used products to ensure they meet specific quality standards before resale or reuse. This can include electronics, appliances, furniture, or other goods. Workers in these roles inspect, clean, replace faulty components, and test products to confirm they function correctly. Refurbished items are often sold at a lower price than new ones but still offer reliable performance.

What are refurbished products?

Refurbished products are items that have been previously owned or used but have undergone inspection, cleaning, repair, and testing to ensure they work like new. These products are often returned by customers or used as display models before being restored by the manufacturer or a certified refurbisher. Refurbished items typically come with a warranty and can offer significant savings compared to buying new products. They go through a rigorous process to meet quality standards, making them a reliable option for many consumers.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in the refurbished electronics industry?

Professionals in the refurbished electronics industry often encounter challenges such as ensuring consistent product quality, staying updated with ever-evolving technology standards, and maintaining a reliable supply chain for used devices. Additionally, they may navigate consumer concerns about warranty, authenticity, and after-sales support. Strong attention to detail and clear communication with customers and technical teams are essential for overcoming these obstacles and building trust in the refurbished market.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a refurbishment technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Refurbishment Technician, you need technical knowledge of electronics or mechanical systems, attention to detail, and typically a relevant vocational qualification or experience in repair work. Familiarity with diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and inventory management systems is commonly required. Problem-solving abilities, time management, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for excelling in this role. These skills ensure that refurbished products meet quality standards, are delivered efficiently, and customer satisfaction is maintained.

Job description

About us
Techbros Electronic Recycle is one of Arizona’s most certified electronic recyclers and ITAD providers. We specialize in secure data handling, electronics recycling, refurbishment, and logistics. Our team plays a hands-on role in protecting the environment while safeguarding client data.

About the Role
We sell used and refurbished IT equipment on eBay. Laptops, desktops, servers, mobile devices, networking gear, and the occasional miscellaneous electronics.

Your job is to get that inventory listed: accurately, attractively, and at volume. Listings are the core of this role and where most of your day goes. Because we sell used hardware, you'll also prep the items you list; you can't write an accurate listing for a machine you haven't put hands on.

What You'll Do
Listing — the core of the role

  • Create high-volume eBay listings for incoming inventory, accurately and at pace
  • Write listings that are complete down to the spec: model numbers, CPU, RAM, storage, condition notes, and everything else a buyer needs to know
  • Optimize new and existing listings — titles, keywords, item specifics, bullet points, descriptions, and photos
  • Photograph products and edit images to meet eBay's listing requirements
  • Manage daily eBay sales operations: offers, buyer questions, and order flow
  • Monitor competitor listings and pricing, and flag what you see
  • Propose ideas to move inventory faster and grow revenue
  • Prep Inventory sheets for large quantity items for offline wholesale orders

Prep that supports the listing work

  • Power on, verify functionality, confirm specs, and note any defects
  • Grade condition accurately and consistently so listings match what ships
  • Clean, inspect, and stage items so they photograph well
  • Support packaging and shipping as needed

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of hands-on eBay selling experience (required)
  • Experience listing used or refurbished electronics (required)
  • Working familiarity with IT hardware: able to identify components, read specs off a machine, and tell working from faulty
  • Strong writing and attention to detail; small spec errors turn into returns/refunds
  • Image editing skills and an eye for clean, compliant product photos
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear communication and a real team-player mindset

Nice to have: hands-on repair or refurbishment experience, or familiarity with data wiping and server hardware.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable handling, testing, and cleaning equipment throughout the day
  • This is an in-person role

Schedule
8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday. 7am-3pm
