Position Overview

Under the direction of program leadership, the Refugee Resource Coordinator strengthens Michigan’s refugee resettlement and integration ecosystem by building and sustaining a collaborative regional volunteer network. This role coordinates efforts between Samaritas and community partners to ensure effective supervision, alignment, and support of volunteer-driven services that promote successful refugee integration.


Core ResponsibilitiesVolunteer Coordination & Support
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, train, and schedule volunteers to support program initiatives.
  • Coordinate daily volunteer activities to ensure alignment with organizational goals and community needs.
  • Provide ongoing supervision, guidance, and training in accordance with program standards and contractual requirements.
  • Conduct volunteer performance evaluations and address concerns in alignment with organizational policies.
Community & Partner Engagement
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local government agencies, businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations.
  • Represent Samaritas at meetings, committees, and faith-based or community events to support program goals.
  • Promote volunteer opportunities and actively recruit community members to support program initiatives.
  • Assist with planning and execution of Samaritas events and outreach activities.
Documentation, Compliance & Program Support
  • Support the Matching Grant team with documentation and tracking of match funds and contributions.
  • Maintain accurate, timely records to ensure compliance with program requirements and reporting standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop innovative solutions that enhance program delivery.
  • Partner with the Communications and Marketing team to promote services, events, and volunteer opportunities.

QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or a related field required
Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  • Commitment to working with and supporting refugee populations.
  • Experience with outcome measurement and goal setting.
  • Basic understanding of refugee services and resettlement processes preferred.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use various software systems.

Working Conditions
  • Combination of office-based and field work.
  • Frequent standing and movement indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Up to 75% travel throughout Southeast Michigan and Flint.
