The Maintenance Technician performs all various manual duties set out by the supervisor to aid daily operations at our refinery. Responsibilities of the position include working with hand and power tools, assisting with painting the building and structure, and maintaining a clean work environment in a refinery setting.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Cleans up all areas of the refinery including working outside such as scraping asphalt off concrete, handling hoses where necessary and cleaning bathrooms.
  • Performs various physical duties as assigned including painting, transporting samples from refinery to testing service location and handling paperwork for sampling.
  • Uses hand & power tools and light & heavy equipment, depending on the job assignment.
  • Ensures tools and equipment are returned to correct location after issuance.
  • Attends formal refinery maintenance training in order to perform the following specialized tasks: hazardous waste handling, including proper labeling; working in hot areas and around hot equipment and serving as fire watch for hot work activities.
  • Maintains all safety standards while completing tasks.
  • Maintains availability for occasional afterhours call-outs as scheduled.
  • Communicates issues/problems up the chain of command as appropriate.
  • Emergency Response - handle fire extinguisher in case of emergency.
  • Assist production of asphalt cartons as per manifest.
  • Assist prep asphalt flooring for carton production.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and documentation of empty cartons and pallets.
  • Shipping documentation of asphalt cartons on truck flat-beds and/or containers.
  • Unloading materials from incoming supply trucks/containers and maintaining documentation.


Other Functions:

  • Complies with safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • Previous work experience in a related field.

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
  • Knowledge of the science and art of delivering information.
  • Skill in talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experiene with performing physical tasks with stamina and strength as assigned preferred.
  • Experience with safely operating various hand & power tools and light & heavy equipment preferred.
