Location: Sudbury, ON Canada
Rotation:ย 7 days on 7 days off
Shift Length:ย 10.5
Salary Range: $73,000 - $123,000/annum, range is variable and dependent on overtime worked and production bonus paid

Job Description:

The primary role of the Construction Miner is to perform such work as shotcreting, building refuge stations, vent walls, crusher stations, muck bins, conveyor installation, timber and concrete work, sump installations, the installation of vent tubing (soft, steel and mecanicad vent) Install air, water and discharge lines, other construction work and maintenance jobs as required.

Education:ย 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Work Experience

  • 2 years' experience in a related construction roleย 
  • Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core - Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent)
    • Required Specialty Modules: U0024, U0028, U0081, U0082, U0085a, U0085b, U0085c & U0086 (or other provincial equivalent)

ย Knowledge Required:

  • Ability to multitask and work effectivelyย 
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
  • Basic Knowledge of the mining industry
  • Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment
  • Ability to read, review and understand Standard Work Procedures, safety programs and applicable mine regulations
  • Basic understanding and ability to read civil prints and or construction prints
  • Must have the ability to adapt to change
  • Respectful of cultural differences

General:

  • Inspect existing underground headings
  • Knowledge of construction methods in the mining environmentย 
  • Scale loose rocks and install ground support to stabilize rock mass and ensure overall safety in the workplaceย 
  • Operate, pneumatic hand-held drills and various other construction tools
  • Operate hand-held drills such as jacklegs and stopers
  • Use of rubber-tired underground mobile equipment such as LHD (Load-Haul-Dump) units, scissor trucks, Boom trucks, shotcrete sprayers and other support vehicles
  • Follow established regulatory, company, and client rules and regulations

  • Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
  • Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
  • Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
  • Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
  • Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area
