Redpath Canada Limited is currently seeking candidates who have extensive experience as a Jumbo Bolter Operator.

Location: Red Lake, ON - Canada
Rotation:ย 14 days on 14 days off
Shift Length:ย 12 hours workersย 
Salary Range:ย $134,000 - $184,000/annum, range is variable and dependent on overtime worked and production bonus paid
Accommodation: Will be provided based on location - Camp setting
Travel: Will be provided based on location - FIFO

Job Summary

Redpath Canada Limited is looking for operators with extensive experience at drilling, scaling, meshing and bolting rounds using jumbos equipped with twin telescopic slides.ย

Education: ย 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core - Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent)
  • Required Specialty Modules: U0089 (or other provincial equivalent)


Work Experience:

  • 3 years or more experience with Jumbo Bolting
  • 1 year of experience on a scoop
  • 1 year of experience installing services
  • 1 year of experience loading and blasting rounds.


Knowledge Requiredย 

  • Demonstrated ability to read mine plans and specifications for underground mining.
  • Demonstrate how to turn corners using offsets
  • Ability to multi task and work effectively ย 
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
  • Respectful of cultural differences

General:

  • Visually inspect and wash down the working area, checking for misfiresย 
  • Assess ground conditions at the face and implement ground control according to site requirements
  • The ability to read and understand the ground support management plan and carry a copy of the current heading ground support plan into the heading.
  • Proficient in the installation of mesh and bolts using the twin boom split feed jumbo to site standards which ensures correct mesh overlap, bolt spacing etc.
  • Mentor the offsider and train to ensure safe behaviour and always works under supported ground.
  • Always isolate booms when offsider is in front of the jacks.
  • Conduct face prep prior to drilling rounds
  • Ability to read and follow survey memos, mark up offsets line and grade.
  • Ability to read and follow engineered drill profiles (Approved site standards)
  • Perform minor repairs, such as changing shanks, couplings and hoses.
  • Complete daily checklists/pre-starts on equipment and submit written and verbal reports to supervisor.ย 
  • Maintain working area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.ย 


Health and Safety:ย 

  • Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
  • Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
  • Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
  • Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
  • Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area.
