Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI is seeking a CARDIAC DEVICE CLINIC SPECIALIST to join our team!
The Cardiac Device Clinic Specialist works closely with cardiologists and electrophysiologists to assist in the implantation, programming, and follow-up of implantable cardiac devices such as pacemakers, defibrillators, cardiac resynchronization therapy devices, and implantable loop recorders to patients throughout the Aspirus Heart & Vascular Institute service area.
HOURS: Full-time or 1.0 FTE, 80 hours every pay period. Day shift, typically Monday-Friday
Experience/Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, biomedical engineering, cardiovascular technology or related health-science field.
    • Knowledge of ECG interpretive skills (identification and differentiation of arrhythmia), cardiac clinical assessment, and routine cardiovascular pharmacological agents (indications, use and effects).
    • Knowledge of the technological aspects of devices (pacemakers, ICDs) i.e., pulse generators, leads and electrodes, sensing, stimulation, timing cycles, algorithms and defibrillation concepts.
    • Completes Basic ECG class and passes with 85% or higher within one year of hire, or tests out of class.
  • Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire - All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, online manikin and knowledge testing. An acceptable training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED.   • Possesses and maintains a valid driver's license.
  • Successful completion of the IBHRE(International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners) Certification Examination for Competency in Cardiac Rhythm Device Therapy desired within 3 years of hire.
  • ACLS desired.
  • Available for call 24/7 on a rotating basis within 45 minutes of notification.
  • Computer skills required.
