Recruiting Startup information

What is a recruiting startup?

A recruiting startup is a company that uses innovative technology, processes, or business models to connect employers with job seekers. These startups often leverage digital platforms, artificial intelligence, or specialized networks to streamline the hiring process, making it quicker and more efficient for both employers and candidates. Recruiting startups can focus on various industries or job types, and they may offer services such as talent sourcing, applicant tracking, or candidate screening. Their goal is to disrupt traditional recruiting methods and provide a better experience for all parties involved.

What are some common challenges faced by recruiters working at startups, and how can they be addressed?

Recruiters at startups often face challenges such as limited resources, high hiring urgency, and the need to attract talent to a less-established brand. These factors can make sourcing candidates more demanding and require creative outreach strategies. Building strong relationships with candidates, leveraging employee referrals, and effectively communicating the company's vision can help overcome these challenges. Additionally, recruiters at startups frequently work closely with founders and hiring managers, fostering a collaborative environment where feedback and agility are essential.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a recruiting startup founder, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Recruiting Startup Founder, you need a solid background in talent acquisition, business development, and entrepreneurship, often supported by experience in HR or recruitment and a strong understanding of startup operations. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), CRM platforms, and recruitment marketing tools is essential. Strong networking, leadership, and problem-solving abilities distinguish successful founders in this space. These skills and qualities are vital for driving business growth, building effective teams, and navigating the competitive startup ecosystem.

What is the difference between Recruiting Startup vs Recruiting Agency?

Senior Recruiter, Go-to-Market (Marketing, Sales & Creative)

Job description

About TensorWave

Our mission is simple: deliver seamless, secure, reliable, and resilient AI compute at scale. We've built a versatile cloud platform that eliminates infrastructure barriers, empowering builders to focus on innovation instead of fighting their stack. Because breakthrough AI should move at the speed of ideas, not infrastructure.

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Recruiter to own full-cycle hiring across our Go-to-Market org, with deep focus on Marketing, Sales, and Design & Media roles. This isn't a "post and pray" recruiting job — you'll be a strategic partner to hiring managers, a builder of process, and an evaluator of creative and commercial talent in a fast-moving startup environment.

You'll bring a sharp eye for what makes a great marketer, salesperson, or designer beyond the resume — the portfolio quality, the pitch, the storytelling, the commercial instinct — and you'll help translate that judgment into repeatable, scalable hiring processes for the whole company.

What you'll do

  • Own full-cycle recruiting for GTM roles spanning Marketing (brand, growth, product marketing, content), Sales (AEs, SDRs, sales leadership), and Design & Media (creative, brand design, video, content production)

  • Build and evolve hiring processes from the ground up — designing scorecards, interview loops, and assessment methods tailored to creative and commercial roles, and iterating quickly as the business scales

  • Partner closely with hiring managers, acting as a talent advisor rather than an order-taker — shaping role scope, calibrating on what "great" looks like, and coaching managers on interviewing technique

  • Improve interviewing acumen org-wide by training hiring managers and interview panels on structured interviewing, reducing bias, and evaluating creative/portfolio-based work effectively

  • Source proactively for hard-to-fill and competitive roles, building strong outbound pipelines rather than relying solely on inbound

  • Evaluate creative output — portfolios, campaigns, writing samples, design work — with a discerning, informed point of view

  • Manage the candidate experience end-to-end, ensuring every candidate (hired or not) has a fast, transparent, and high-quality experience

  • Use data to drive decisions — track funnel metrics, time-to-fill, source effectiveness, and offer acceptance, and use that data to continuously refine process

  • Flex across levels and functions as priorities shift, from individual contributor to senior/leadership hires

Who you are

Required qualifications

  • 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with a strong track record hiring for Marketing, Sales, and/or Design & Media roles

  • Experience in high-growth startup environments where process was being built (not just executed) in real time

  • Demonstrated ability to build and iterate on hiring processes, assessment frameworks, and interview scorecards from scratch

  • A track record of coaching and upleveling hiring managers' interviewing skills, not just scheduling their interviews

  • Strong instincts for evaluating creative and commercial talent — you can look at a portfolio, campaign, or pitch and have an informed opinion

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills; comfortable pushing back on hiring managers and influencing without authority

  • A bias for action and comfort with ambiguity — you build the plane while flying it

  • Strong sourcing skills across LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean search, and creative sourcing channels specific to marketing/design/sales talent

  • Data-driven mindset; fluent in recruiting metrics and comfortable using an ATS to manage pipeline and reporting

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience recruiting in-house at a Series A–C startup

  • Experience building recruiting function infrastructure (ATS implementation, interview training programs, employer branding)

  • Familiarity with evaluating design/creative portfolios or sales pipeline/quota performance data

Benefits

  • Stock Options

  • 100% paid Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance for Employees

  • Company Health Savings Account Contributions

  • 100% paid Short Term and Long Term Disability Insurance for Employees

  • Life and Voluntary Supplemental Insurance Options

  • Other Insurance Options, such as Pet & Legal Insurance

  • Various Supplementary Health Benefits, such as discounted Virtual Healthcare Appointments and Serious Illness Support

  • Flexible Spending Account

  • 401(k)

  • Employee Assistance Program

  • Flexible PTO

  • Paid Holidays

  • Parental Leave

  • Other In-Office Perks
