What you will have an opportunity to do:

Position Summary

The Recruitment Manager is responsible for leading the full-cycle recruitment process for management and line-level positions at The Potomac Hotel. This position serves as a key partner to department leaders, developing effective sourcing strategies, identifying and screening qualified candidates, and driving an organized and responsive selection process from opening through hire.

The Recruitment Manager also has primary responsibility for the hotel's New Hire Orientation program, ensuring new employees experience a well-organized, engaging, and effective introduction to the hotel. As a member of the Human Resources team, the Recruitment Manager will provide secondary support for training, benefits, employee relations, and other HR initiatives as business needs require.

This is an individual-contributor position reporting to the Assistant Director of Human Resources.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesRecruitment & Talent Acquisition
  • Manage recruitment for management and line-level positions across hotel departments, maintaining consistent attention to both immediate vacancies and longer-term staffing needs.

  • Partner closely with department leaders to understand position requirements, staffing priorities, candidate profiles, and recruiting challenges.

  • Manage job postings and applicant activity through Workday, ensuring recruiting information and candidate statuses remain accurate and current.

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies designed to generate qualified candidate pipelines for current and anticipated openings.

  • Proactively source candidates through LinkedIn, hospitality schools, community organizations, job fairs, employment events, employee referrals, staffing partners, and other appropriate channels.

  • Review applications and resumes, conduct initial candidate screenings, assess qualifications and job fit, and advance qualified candidates to department leaders for interviews.

  • Maintain consistent communication with hiring managers to facilitate timely interviewing, candidate feedback, selection, and hiring decisions.

  • Coordinate the candidate experience throughout the recruitment process, maintaining professional and timely communication with applicants.

  • Following the department leader's verbal offer, prepare and manage the formal offer process and subsequent pre-employment and onboarding requirements.

  • Coordinate applicable background checks and other pre-employment processes, ensuring required steps are completed before hire.

  • Support internal recruitment, transfers, and promotional opportunities, coordinating internal candidates through the appropriate selection process.

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with staffing agencies, recruiting vendors, schools, community partners, and other external talent sources.

  • Represent the hotel at job fairs, community sourcing events, school recruiting activities, and other talent-acquisition events.

  • Maintain recruiting records, reports, and data; monitor recruiting activity and use available information to identify staffing needs, sourcing opportunities, and potential process improvements.

  • Continuously evaluate recruiting practices and recommend opportunities to improve efficiency, candidate quality, hiring-manager partnership, and the overall recruitment process.

New Hire Orientation & Onboarding
  • Own the planning, coordination, administration, and facilitation of the hotel's New Hire Orientation program.

  • Maintain and continuously improve orientation content, presentations, materials, schedules, and supporting resources.

  • Coordinate participation of hotel leaders and other presenters to ensure an organized and effective orientation experience.

  • Ensure required new-hire documentation and onboarding activities are completed accurately and on schedule.

  • Partner with department leaders and Human Resources colleagues to facilitate a smooth transition from candidate to new employee.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of New Hire Orientation and recommend enhancements to content, delivery, and the overall new-hire experience.

Recruiting Compliance & Administration
  • Support fair, consistent, and legally compliant recruiting and selection practices in accordance with applicable federal and District of Columbia employment requirements.

  • Promote consistent interviewing and candidate-assessment practices across departments.

  • Maintain appropriate recruitment documentation and ensure required information is accurately recorded within Workday.

  • Partner with Human Resources leadership on recruiting-related policies, procedures, practices, and compliance requirements.

  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality of candidate, employee, and business information.

Human Resources Support
  • Provide secondary support to the Human Resources team with training and development initiatives, benefits administration, employee relations, employee programs, and other HR activities as assigned.

  • Participate in departmental projects and hotel-wide Human Resources initiatives as business needs require.

  • Serve as a collaborative resource to employees and leaders while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professional judgment.

What are we looking for?

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

  • Three to five years of recruiting or talent acquisition experience preferred, but not required.

  • Previous recruiting experience within the hotel or hospitality industry strongly preferred.

  • Experience recruiting for a range of positions, including both hourly/line-level and management roles, strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Workday recruiting or applicant-tracking functionality is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to source, screen, and assess candidates effectively.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-management skills with the ability to build productive partnerships with hiring managers and external recruiting partners.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple open positions, candidates, deadlines, and competing priorities simultaneously.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including confidence facilitating presentations and New Hire Orientation.

  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential employee and candidate information.

  • Working knowledge of recruiting and employment practices and an understanding of the importance of consistent, compliant selection processes.

  • Comfortable using recruiting technology, professional networking platforms, and standard business software.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a broader Human Resources team.

Work Requirements
  • This position is fully on-site at The Potomac Hotel.

  • Ability to attend off-site recruiting activities, career fairs, school events, and community sourcing events as needed.

  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support recruiting events, New Hire Orientation, and hotel business needs.
