Position Summary Information

Duties - The Rural Student Enrollment Advisor/Recruiter is a representative of Athens State University with the primary duty to recruit and support prospective rural secondary and community college students through the enrollment process. This position directly supports the Rural Postsecondary and Economic Development (RPED) grant at Athens State University. The Advisor will focus on rural high schools, community colleges, and community partners to increase college access, promote the A.C.E.S. program, and guide rural students from inquiry to enrollment. The role requires extensive field work, data tracking, and coordination with the Rural Student Success Coordinator and the Project Director. The recruiter will provide information about college opportunities for rural students, Athens State University, its programs, and admissions criteria, and assist with planning for college, including Athens State University. Recruiters will have flexible hours, including nights and weekends with up to 75% travel. The Recruiter must attend transfer programs, and recruiting events and make recruiting visits as directed. The Advisor will also provide processing support for Admissions.

Responsibilities: Promote Athens State University to prospective rural applicants Represent Athens State University at community and technical colleges, high schools, college fairs, conventions, conferences and other venues Disseminate Athens State University Program information to potential students Assist students with the application process Actively engage with rural community colleges and their students to help students create a path to a bachelor's degree Promote the ACES program to rural schools, counselors, and prospective students Support Admissions functions and processing in the scope of rural students and grant-related projects Track student contacts through the first enrollment process Meet annual recruitment goals as established by the Project Director Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing work scope and tasks based on need Actively work towards building cooperative and collaborative relationships with peers and internal faculty and staff Maintain "open door" to internal and external customers Identify opportunities for improvements to work practices and offer viable solutions for implementation Actively track contacts for monthly/quarterly grant reporting in conjunction with Coordinator of Rural Student Success and RPED Project Director Proactively engage in problem-solving related to tasks in this position with internal and external people Routinely practice self-monitoring by assessing self to make improvements or take corrective action to improve performance Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications - Qualifications Required: Associate's Degree (Bachelor's Degree preferred) Excellent organizational skills Must have the maturity and adaptability to be team oriented and yet able to work independently with minimal supervision Must be willing and able to travel by auto to perform university recruitment business Must be eligible to meet and maintain auto insurance requirements of the University Ability to communicate effectively with others Recruiting and/or sales experience Microsoft Applications experience Qualifications Preferred: Transfer and graduate student recruiting experience Master's degree Experience with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software program Working Conditions: Must be able to remain in a stationary position such as sitting and/or standing for up to 75% of the time Must be able to work flexible hours to include nights and weekends and up to 75% travel time Must be able to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions Frequently communicates with current and prospective students for recruiting and enrollment needs Frequently uses hands/fingers to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery Frequently operates a motor vehicle to attend transfer programs, recruiting events, and market visits as directed May occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions
