Once within the original boundary stones that demarked the area of the Nation's Capital, Alexandria is a part of the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area

The City of Alexandria is an independent City with no county affiliation and derives its governing authority from a Charter granted by the Virginia General Assembly. Virginia is a Dillon Rule state, allowing local governments only the authority granted to them by the Virginia Constitution or by the Virginia General Assembly in the City Charter or in general law. Taylor, Director Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities Position Overview The Recreation Manager I (Sports) is responsible for the planning, administration, supervision, and evaluation of adult sports leagues, athletic facilities, special events, and recreational programming for the Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities (RPCA). The Opportunity - Plan, coordinate, implement, supervise, and evaluate adult sports leagues, tournaments, special events, and recreational programs.

- Manage league operations including scheduling, standings, playoffs, roster management, and participant communication. - Oversee adult athletic programs including basketball, softball, volleyball, soccer, and other recreational offerings. - Develop new sports programs and initiatives that respond to community interests and participation trends.

- Manage program registration, scheduling, reporting, and participant records using RecTrac/WebTrac. - Recruit, interview, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate staff, officials, instructors, and volunteers. - Coordinate scheduling and utilization of athletic fields, gymnasiums, courts, and recreational facilities.

- Assist in developing and monitoring program budgets and revenue projections. - Build and maintain relationships with participants, officials, schools, community organizations, and affiliate groups. What You Should Bring The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of recreation and sports program administration, league operations, facility scheduling, staff supervision, customer service, and budget management.

Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field. Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in recreation, sports management, facility operations, or program administration.

Experience supervising staff, officials, instructors, and volunteers. Experience administering adult sports leagues and athletic facilities. Experience with RecTrac/WebTrac or similar recreation management software.
