Position: Milieu Specialist
Job Type: Pool / Non-Exempt
Shift Details: Pool As Needed - 7:00am-7:30pm or 7:00pm - 7:30am
Work Location: Recovery Innovations: Evaluation amp; Treatment Center - Fife, Washington
Salary/Hourly Wage: $18.00 - $23.00/hour

All pool staff, regardless of type, must be available to work at least 2 shifts per month to include the following holidays: Christmas, New Years Day AND One other major holiday: Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving Day *Please note the 2 shifts will be offered based on the provided availability by the employee. New employee orientation is three full days and does require attendance for all days. Training is Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday onsite and full days' attendance is required.
Summary of Job: The Milieu Specialist position functions as a leader in providing de-escalation and support strategies to prevent the use of seclusion and restraint. The Milieu Specialist position also provides effective emergency response in the event of imminent danger in order to maintain safety and security.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Guest Care amp; Advocacy:
    • Provides a No-Force-First recovery environment.
    • Conducts ongoing observation of individuals for the purpose of reporting any significant changes.
    • Assists in developing natural supports and community living by collaborating with each guest to strengthen valued roles (friend, spouse, employee, student, etc.) so a greater sense of identity is established.
    • Assists with food preparation, serving and clean up, as needed.
    • Assists individuals with shower and clean-up.
    • Performs room safety checks, insuring that individuals are safe from potentially dangerous objects and that the rooms are clean.
  2. Compliance amp; Risk Management:
    • Responds quickly to critical situations that may require Restrictive Interventions.
    • Completes clinical documentation as required.
    • Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations and laws and all Recovery Innovations policies and procedures as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
    • Understands and adheres to Recovery Innovations compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
  3. Cross Functional Collaboration:
    • Assists with admissions, discharges and transfers of individuals.
  4. Additional Duties:
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.   1. Education/Licenses:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Successful completion of Peer Employment Training preferred.
    • Active and valid Food Handler’s Certification required.
  2. Experience:
    • Security or law enforcement experience preferred.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of behavioral health experience, crisis environment preferred.
  3. Skills:
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Effective communication skills.
    • Ability to work various shifts.
    • Must be able to pass de-escalation training, as defined by state requirements.
  4. Driving Requirements:
    • If driving is required for this position, must meet all requirements outlined in Recovery Innovations driving policy.
    • If not qualified to drive per driving policy, a Non-Driver Attestation form must be signed.
  5. Miscellaneous Requirement(s):
    • Must be 18 years or older
    • Travel required based on business need.
    • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality (HIPAA guidelines and regulations) and professionalism.

      • Must be able to pass substance abuse testing and/or tuberculous testing (if applicable).
      • Must be able to pass education verification check.
      • Must be able to obtain designated fingerprinting clearance in applicable states.
      • Must be able to pass three-year motor vehicle report and meet minimum eligibility requirements criteria of insurance carrier (if driving is required for this position).
A Direct Service Competency Checklist must be completed as part of the new hire onboarding process.
Physical Demands:
May include work close to the eyes and substantial motions of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, finger dexterity; eye-hand-foot coordination, use of corrected vision; color vision; use of auditory senses. May be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
Work Environment
May work in an office environment or behavioral health facility. May have contact with individuals who are agitated and/or confused. Work may include travel throughout the geographic region.
