Job description

CMiT is looking for a Secure Communication Technician to work on the Kirtland AFB C4 Contract in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Secure Communications Technician installs and maintains secure voice and data networks through programming, installation, testing, and maintenance of secure communication equipment. Orders, pickup, loading, storage, and destruction of COMSEC materials, complete daily inventories of all COMSEC material. Work from customer-submitted work orders. Coordinate with the customer to ensure the required services are installed and operational. Maintain accurate records of all managed devices and COMSEC materials, and manage scheduling of installs, re-keys, and upgrades. Maintains a safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations. This is a temporary on-site position September - April.

 Responsibilities

  • Serve as the COMSEC Responsible Officer (CRO) and/or Secure Voice Responsible Officer (SVRO).
  • Coordinates with the customer on specific requirements, and where necessary and appropriate coordinates with other contractors.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions, meet with the customer tactfully and courteously, and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with customers and coworkers.
  • Use tools and test equipment required for the installation and maintenance of telephone and data network services.
Required
  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems and practices.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Follow proper safety practices, procedures, and regulations applicable to work being performed in a telephone switch environment.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the positions such as climbing ladders, standing, bending, and lifting for the duration of the duty day.
  • Familiar with SKL, TACLANE Network Encryptors, Secteras, vIPers, STEs, OMNIs, and Iridiums.
  • Must be detail-oriented, with good record management skills, and capable of maintaining documentation, forms, and inventories.
  • Must possess refined critical thinking skills, should be a self-starter, and possess the ability to direct the activities of other team members.
  • Must be diplomatic, multi-task capable, detail-oriented, adaptive to a dynamic environment, dependable, and reliable.
Education/Certifications Required
  • Valid New Mexico Driver's License Required
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 compliant baseline certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP) or higher
  • TACLANE Encryptor Training

 Clearance Required

  • Requires a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance
