Job description

This position exists to prioritize the day-to-day activities of Medical Record clerical support.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)

  1. Assembles, analyzes, creates medical records according to guidelines with 98% accuracy.

  2. Completes request for Release of Information within established timelines.

  3. Assists in Transcription for clerical purposes as needed.

  4. Assists physicians with chart completion process.

  5. Files and retrieves Medical Records using the terminal digit numbering system.

  6. Reconciles medical record discharge report with medical records picked up from units/departments.

  7. Retrieves discharged medical records (inpatient and outpatient) from departments within the Methodist Hospitals.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS(Minimum Requirements)

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of the medical record numbering system.
  • Must demonstrate good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be professional, courteous, and have a positive attitude.

EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required
