Musicians often go on tour, and it is common for record label staff to participate. If you choose one of these jobs, you may be away from home a significant portion of the year.

What is a record label?

A record label is a company that manages the production, distribution, and promotion of music recordings and artists. Record labels can be major corporations or independent companies, and they often provide services like artist development, financial support, and legal representation. By signing with a record label, artists can benefit from industry expertise and resources that may be difficult to obtain independently.

Collaboration across departments—such as marketing, A&R, and legal—is frequent, requiring strong communication skills and flexibility. To prepare, new hires should stay informed about current music trends, develop strong organizational habits, and be ready to work as part of a dynamic team.
