Record Label Producer information

What are some common challenges faced by record label producers when managing multiple artists and projects simultaneously?

Record label producers often juggle several artists and projects at once, which can make time management and prioritization challenging. Balancing creative input with business objectives, coordinating schedules, and ensuring each artist receives appropriate attention are daily hurdles. Effective communication and organization are essential, as producers must align the goals of artists, marketing teams, and executives while meeting tight deadlines. These challenges are also opportunities to develop strong leadership and multitasking skills, which are highly valued in the music industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Record Label Producer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Record Label Producer, you need a solid understanding of music production, industry trends, and artist management, often backed by experience or a degree in music business or production. Familiarity with digital audio workstations (DAWs), music licensing platforms, and project management tools is essential. Strong interpersonal skills, creative vision, and negotiation abilities help build relationships with artists and industry professionals. These skills ensure successful production projects, effective artist development, and the ability to navigate the fast-paced, competitive music industry.

Job description

The Cleveland Orchestra is seeking a versatile, proactive and detail oriented Digital Media Products Manager who will oversee the growth and day-to-day operations of TCO's digital media portfolio, including the Orchestra's flagship subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) platform, Adella, its expanding content partnerships and licensing activities, and its in-house recording label.
This role blends product management, digital media strategy, and cross-functional project leadership. Working closely with the Chief Growth Officer and colleagues across Digital Platforms, Marketing, Education, Production, and Artistic Planning, the Manager will help evolve TCO's digital offerings while stewarding the recording and media legacy of one of America's most storied orchestras.
Position responsibilities include the following:
Digital Media & Product Leadership
  • Lead the day-to-day operational management of TCO's digital media products, including Adella, licensing and distribution activities, and the Orchestra's in-house recording label, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and platform capabilities.
  • Partner with the Director and Manager of Digital Platforms to shape Adella's feature roadmap and user experience by representing digital media, content, and audience needs and providing insights, performance data, and audience feedback to enhance discoverability and engagement

Adella Growth Strategy, Marketing & User Engagement
  • Lead day-to-day marketing and growth initiatives for TCO's digital media products, with a focus on subscriber acquisition, engagement, retention, and reactivation, including acquisition, onboarding, lifecycle, and retention email campaigns.
  • Develop, test, and optimize growth strategies through segmentation, onboarding improvements, and loyalty initiatives, owning KPI tracking, growth dashboards, and performance reporting to improve conversion, retention, and lifetime value.
  • Oversee customer experience and support operations for digital media products, ensuring a high-quality, user-centered subscriber experience and serving as the primary escalation point for complex issues related to access, billing, and platform functionality.

Content Partnerships & Monetization
  • Support the Chief Growth Officer in sourcing, negotiating, and executing co-production, licensing, and distribution deals with domestic and international partners, while serving as a thought partner on emerging opportunities in digital distribution and media partnerships.

Recording Label Operations
  • Manage day-to-day operations of TCO's recording label, including release planning and distribution, publications and metadata management, and catalog upkeep. This role focuses on coordination, planning, and operational oversight rather than audio production.
  • Coordinate with artists, producers, and internal and external stakeholders to support recording projects from planning through release, ensuring alignment with broader digital media, growth, and audience strategies.

Rights, Clearances & Compliance
  • Secure, coordinate, and document rights clearances and compliance for digital and recorded content, including agreements with artists, publishers, and other rights holders, ensuring content is approved for intended platforms, territories, and usage periods.

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in digital media, product management, business administration, or digital marketing, preferably in performing arts, entertainment, or subscription-based platforms.
  • Strong familiarity with streaming platforms, SVOD systems, and OTT infrastructure, preferably platforms like Brightcove, Vimeo OTT, or similar
  • Experience with data analytics tools and customer segmentation; fluency in key product KPIs and user engagement metrics.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Excellent project management skills, with ability to balance big-picture thinking and day-to-day execution across multiple workstreams.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; experience navigating multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Familiarity with and passion for classical music is a big plus.

We offer a competitive salary ($70,000 - $80,000), excellent medical and dental plan benefits, generous paid time off, 403(b) plan with employer match, hybrid remote/onsite work schedule, complimentary concert tickets, and the opportunity to work with a world-renowned Orchestra.
