Position Summary

ย The Reconstruction Estimator plays a critical role in restoring residential and commercial properties following traumatic events such as fire, flood, and other disasters. This desk-based estimating position is responsible for producing accurate, timely, and compliant reconstruction estimates while partnering closely with insurance carriers, TPAs, property owners, and internal reconstruction teams. The role supports profitable, high-quality project outcomes through detailed scope development, estimate accuracy, and effective coordinationโ€”without performing field estimating.ย

JOB DUTIES
Production & Financial Performance
  • Generate written estimates placed into production, supporting reconstruction revenue targets.
  • Ensure each project meets or exceeds minimum gross profit margin requirements in accordance with company standards.
  • Maintain a consistent pipeline of approved projects by meeting internal and carrier cycle-time expectation.
Estimating & Technical Expertise
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert for reconstruction estimating, providing accurate and defensible scopes.
  • Prepare detailed estimates using 3D scans, field documentation, and project scopes.
  • Estimate each loss using industry-standard estimating platforms, including Xactimate and Symbility.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of building codes, construction methods, materials, and sequencing to ensure estimates are compliant and accurate.
  • Stay current on estimating software updates, pricing changes, and industry best practices through ongoing education
Field Response & Project Scoping
  • Respond on-site when needed following property loss events to accurately scope damages, validate project requirements, and support timely estimate completion.
  • Secure signed work authorizations to transition approved projects to the production team efficiently.
  • Identify scope gaps, project risks, or misalignments early and escalate as needed.
Insurance, TPA & Customer Relations
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with insurance adjusters and TPA representatives by adhering to program guidelines and exceeding cycle-time expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with adjusters to resolve scope questions, supplements, and approval issues.
  • Communicate clearly with property owners to set expectations and explain the reconstruction process, restoring the property to its pre-loss condition
Collaboration & Project Execution
  • Partner closely with the Division Manager, Reconstruction Leaders, Project Managers, and Coordinators to ensure smooth handoff from estimating to production.
  • Proactively identify projects or issues that may not align with company goals, margins, or operational capacity.
  • Support production teams with estimate clarification, scope reviews, and project transitions.
Change Management & Documentation
  • Communicate, document, and track all change orders and insurance supplements, ensuring timely submission, approval, and proper documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records to support project audits, carrier reviews, and internal reporting.

  • Ability to operate our primary operating systems: RMS, Xactimate, & Symbility and additional systems as requested.
  • Ability to answer and communicate with customers over the phone and face to face

  • Manage work queue to meet time expectations
  • Self-motivated with the ability to plan, organize, and complete tasks independently without close supervision.
