Job description

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for Plymouth Harbor, its residents, staff, guests, and vendors, and to ensure the enforcement of all safety and security related policies and procedures.

Work Schedule: 40 hours, Overnight Shiftย 

ย DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Perform procedures to the standards set forth by the Director and the Vice President of Support Services.
  2. Directly respond to emergencies, as needed.ย  These emergencies may include quickly negotiating stairs and corridors in order to reach the scene of the emergency and assisting, lifting, or restraining people and/or objects (or assisting health services personnel in doing so).
  3. Assist responding fire, paramedic, police, and any other emergency personnel, and prepare subsequent related reports.
  4. Conduct lighting inspections, as required by the Director, each Monday and Thursday and submit required reportย 
  5. Conduct building inspections.ย 
  6. Respond to calls for service by the Front Desk Receptionist or Home Care Department.
  7. Patrol all parking lots and garages at least once each hour of assigned shift.ย  ย ย 
  8. Enforce the parking policy.
  9. Prepare accurate and complete reports of all incidents that occur on assigned shift.ย  Maintain complete confidentiality with regard to report content and related information.ย 
  10. Provide meal and break relief for the Front Desk Receptionist, as requested.
  11. Use the proper cart for the proper assignment.ย  The 6-passenger Cruise Car is to be used for shuttles only.ย  The 4-passenger Club Car is to be used for Security patrols only.ย 
  12. Provide coverage to service elevator, as directed.ย 
  13. Assist the Front Desk in the delivery of flowers and packages to residents not on the โ€˜Do Not Disturbโ€™ list.ย 
  14. Assist valet coverage and responsibility, as needed.ย 
  15. Provide prompt and efficient shuttle service as requested.
  16. Complete maintenance duties of shuttle carts and ensure that carts are kept clean. After each shift, wipe down all surface areas and sweep floor.ย  Thoroughly wash, as requested.
  17. Prepare work orders as needed and submit to the Front Desk before the end of your shift.ย  ย ย 
  18. Strive for quality work with each assignment.
  19. Make efficient use of Plymouth Harborโ€™s resources and supplies.
  20. Be available to respond to Plymouth Harbor during an emergency.ย 
  21. Work safely; complying at all times with Plymouth Harbor safety standards.
  22. Discharge properly such other responsibilities and duties as the Director or Vice President of Resident Services may direct.ย 
  23. Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, and mandatory in-services as approved or required.ย 
  24. Maintain work area, equipment and supplies in a clean, sanitary and organized manner.ย  Ensure that work areas are neat and confidential materials are properly stored before leaving area on breaks, end of work day, etc.ย 
  25. Work safely; complying at all times with Plymouth Harbor safety standards.ย 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.ย 

Required:

  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must have a Driver's Licenseย 

General:

  • Must have good organizational skills.ย 
  • Must be a detail-oriented person and able to perform duties with great accuracy on a daily basis.
  • Must have excellent personal skills, demonstrating the ability to conduct oneself in a non-controversial style; a style that inspires the respect of others and promotes a sense of trust in the individualโ€™s competence.
  • Must have good communication skills; speaking, writing, and listening.
  • Must have good computer skills.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS

  • Must have a valid Florida driverโ€™s license.ย
