Job description

Medical Receptionist

·        Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone and takes detailed messages as needed

·        Verifies and/or updates demographic and insurance information for each patient, collecting copay-as needed

·        Uses practice management software, patient portal and appointments reminder systems, to manage scheduling, interact with patients and providers, and updates files and patient records

·        Collects, sorts and distributes incoming fax messages

·        Minimizes patient stress by anticipating their anxieties, answering questions, problem solving and maintaining a calm and orderly environment in the reception area

·        Protect patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical personal, and financial information

·        Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, and reporting needed changes
