Soho House Portland is hiring a Club Receptionist/Host!
Scope of the Job
As a full-time Club Receptionist/Host, you are the first point of contact for members and guests. You are responsible for managing the arrival experience, answering incoming calls, and handling reservations. This role requires acute organizational skills, a warm disposition, and the ability to foster a positive, hospitable atmosphere from arrival to departure.
Key Responsibilities
  • Guest Relations: Welcome members by name and greet new guests warmly to set a positive tone.
  • Inquiry Management: Answer high-volume phone lines, taking messages and handling general inquiries or deliveries.
  • Reservations & Seating: Manage reservations via OpenTable for the club. Ensure all anticipated covers are accounted for and tables are ready.
  • Floor Support: Assist Food & Beverage managers with service execution and handle guest-list duties across multiple levels.
  • Problem Solving: Support, redirect, and resolve guest concerns in real time.
  • Membership Liaison: Build relationships with members, manage expectations, and forward feedback or issues to the Membership team.
  • Operations & Care: Maintain a clean, safe desk and reception area while managing the coat check closet.
  • Team Development: Train junior reception team members on Soho House process and service standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years of experience in a high-volume receptionist or hosting role.
  • Systems: Proficiency with OpenTable is required. Experience with Salesforce and Opera is a plus.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain strict discretion.
  • Work Style: Exceptionally detail-oriented, articulate, and capable of multitasking in a demanding environment.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand and work on your feet for at least 8 hours in a fast-paced environment.
  • Move quickly between different areas of the club, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds.
  • Seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands.
  • Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch, and climb.
