Position at New South Construction Supply, a Colony division
The Rebar Lead Fabricator and Shear Line Operator is responsible for overseeing daily fabrication operations while operating shear line equipment to cut and process reinforcing steel to specification. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and facility standards.
Schedule
  • 7am-5pm, Monday through Friday

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Safety
    • Lead and mentor fabrication team members to ensure safe and efficient production.
    • Promote and enforce all workplace safety policies and procedures.
    • Conduct regular safety briefings and ensure proper use of PPE.
    • Identify and address potential hazards to maintain a zero-incident work environment.
  • Shear Line Operation & Fabrication
    • Set up, operate, and monitor shear line machinery to cut rebar according to production schedules and customer specifications.
    • Interpret bar lists, rebar tag prints, and production orders accurately.
    • Verify measurements and ensure quality control standards are consistently met.
    • Coordinate workflow to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Equipment Safety & Maintenance
    • Perform routine inspections of shear line and related fabrication equipment.
    • Conduct basic preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
    • Report mechanical issues promptly and coordinate repairs when necessary.
    • Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records.
  • Facility Standards & Professionalism
    • Uphold a high standard of cleanliness and organization throughout the shop.
    • Ensure workstations and equipment areas are orderly and hazard-free.
    • Maintain professional conduct and promote a culture of accountability and teamwork.
    • Represent the company with professionalism when interacting with coworkers, supervisors, and visitors.

What You'll Need for Success:
  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years' experience working with rebar and operating a shear line.
  • Strong understanding of shop drawings and production processes.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety standards.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment maintenance.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to safely lift and manage 50+ lbs.
  • Basic computer skills.
