Job Summary

Reporting to the Product Owner within the Data Architecture team, the Business Analyst supports the company's strategic priorities, including process automation, data enablement, and operational excellence. This role is well suited for an individual with strong institutional knowledge who is interested in expanding impact across the organization.

The Business Analyst serves as a key connector between business teams and technology partners, leveraging an understanding of existing processes, systems, and data to identify opportunities for improvement. The role involves leading discovery sessions, facilitating collaborative workshops, documenting current- and future-state processes, and mapping data flows to support scalable analytics and technology solutions.

This position is responsible for clearly documenting business and technical requirements, assessing potential solutions, and partnering with stakeholders to address cross-functional challenges. The Business Analyst helps bridge departmental perspectives by translating business needs into actionable insights that enhance data quality, technical efficiency, and overall productivity. The role may be performed independently or as part of cross-functional teams supporting change management, continuous improvement, and organizational capability building.

What You'll Be Working On

Business & Process Analysis

  • Partner with teams across the organization to identify opportunities to streamline processes and better leverage existing systems and data
  • Participate in or lead cross-functional initiatives focused on improving efficiency and effectiveness
  • Conduct discovery sessions and stakeholder interviews to understand current workflows, challenges, and future needs
  • Document current- and future-state process flows using visual artifacts that capture both business processes and system interfaces
  • Identify root causes of process, data, or system challenges and recommend improvements that enhance efficiency, data quality, and user experience

Data Enablement & Analytics Support

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define meaningful KPIs and support the creation of dashboards and reporting that drive performance visibility
  • Participate in data discovery efforts to understand how data is created, stored, transformed, and consumed across departments
  • Document data definitions, mappings, and reporting requirements to improve consistency and shared understanding
  • Identify opportunities to automate or simplify manual processes using data-driven insights and existing tools

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Delivery

  • Serve as a liaison between business teams and technology partners by translating ideas into clear requirements, workflows, and data needs
  • Develop and maintain high-quality documentation, including business and functional requirements, process documentation, and end-user materials such as procedures, training guides, and release notes
  • Support projects requiring coordination across departments, development teams, and vendors by helping track requirements, timelines, and dependencies
  • Partner with QA and project teams to support testing, understand system impacts, and assist with user training and adoption during system launches or enhancements
  • Contribute to data governance efforts by promoting best practices related to data usage, documentation, and privacy

Continuous Improvement & Growth

  • Stay current on data, analytics, AI tools, and process improvement practices, applying new ideas where they add value
  • Demonstrate adaptability and comfort wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced environment while building new skills and expanding organizational impact

Qualifications

Candidates are typically expected to have:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 3+ years of relevant work experience within the real estate domain
  • Experience with Visio or similar process and workflow documentation tools
  • Experience with data wrangling techniques for cleaning, preprocessing, and reshaping data
  • Strong experience conducting and documenting business process mapping
  • Ability to communicate insights effectively through data storytelling, visualizations, and narratives
  • Working knowledge of data mapping, data flow, ETL processes, and reporting interfaces
  • Experience developing process flows and visual documentation that incorporate both business and system perspectives
  • High attention to detail with a focus on executive-quality documentation and presentation
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences

Nice to have:

  • Experience using AI tools in daily work
  • Experience creating user stories, managing projects, or supporting product ownership
  • Experience with data mapping and reporting tools
  • Prior Business Analyst, Product Owner, or Project Management experience

This hybrid position is based in our San Diego (Del Mar area) headquarters. Monday through Thursday is in-office for collaboration, with the opportunity to work remotely on Friday.

Thebasepay range for this role is $73,630 - $89,198 - $108,068.

Offers near the high end are uncommon but may be considered for candidates with exceptional experience and skills and are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. You may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an annual discretionary stock award, to be discussed during the interview process. An annual pay rate and total compensation package is generally determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, education, skills, performance, and abilities, as well as internal equity, company performance, and alignment with market data.

Our 401(k)-retirement plan has a company match of 50% up to 6% of eligible compensation.
