Job Description
Responsibilities:
  • Analyzing equipment performance, failure data, and corrective maintenance history to develop and deploy engineering solutions, improved maintenance strategies, preventative and predictive maintenance optimization, and other reliability techniques.
  • Conducting analyses and investigations to determine relative reliability with regard to such factors as cost, structure, weight, maintainability, facility of production, availability of materials and equipment, and determines the ability of the product to comply with customer and contractual requirements.
  • Develop the analysis methods for establishing reliability of company products and their components, prepares sketches, charts, drawings or reports for further developments.
  • Develop and optimize the maintenance strategies of critical assets.
  • Take ownership in the implementation of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and its integration into the plants organization.
  • Participates in the final check out of new installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications.
  • Monitor relevant KPI's to ensure achievement of objectives and propose action plans in case of deviation.
  • Collaborate with Project Management and Engineering on new projects and carry out design reviews on new and critical mechanical equipment to ensure maintainability.
  • Identify capability gaps within maintenance team members and work with maintenance manager to address.
  • Update the criticality matrix and use it to improve the weekly Job planning to prioritize the critical work and improve crew utilization.
  • Improving plant equipment by identifying the bad actors and implementing Reliability Strategy development using RCM, PMO and Predictive Tools to recommend operational, maintenance, and process changes to maximize equipment reliability, availability, mean time between failure (MTBF) and life expectancy which will help drive plant KPI's in favorable direction.
  • Analyze and interpret equipment failures using Pareto Analysis with focus based on addressing the top 20% of events helping to further analyze the other 80%.
  • Support plant maintenance and reliability groups in developing and implementing local programs to drive site reliability and cost management
  • Providing training and coaching in Root Cause and Reliability Analysis and taking ownership for ongoing corrective action tracking, implementation, and follow up to ensure that all Root Cause analysis projects are documented following them through until completion.
  • Promotes a culture of vigorous risk assessment, incident reporting and leading indicators, i.e., Near Misses, Risk assessment reviews and Field observation.
  • Provide training to plant personnel to develop competency in the areas of machinery operation and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and improve availability.
  • Perform life cycle cost analysis to aid in prioritizing capital projects and conduct investment appraisals where needed.
  • Support plants in optimizing asset tree and implementing spare parts inventory management to simultaneously reduce downtime and inventory costs.
  • Lead development of maintenance and shutdown planning strategy improvements and implement same at assigned plants.
  • Partnering with appropriate suppliers and customer technical resources to implement best practices
  • Providing leadership in conducting or arranging for the training of maintenance tasks, techniques, technologies, and concepts for maintenance technicians and support staff
  • Recommending and evaluate process & equipment improvements.
  • Support the Carmeuse Safety program and initiatives.
  • Support the Carmeuse Sustainability program and initiatives.

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 5-10 years of related experience in progressively more responsible positions in a heavy manufacturing environment;
  • Demonstrated competency in preventative, predictive, basic care practices, and computerized maintenance management systems
  • Strong management and Total Productive Maintenance experience;
  • Six Sigma training or Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) / (CRL) certification a plus
  • Demonstrable teamwork and maturity with a strong work ethic
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Ability to travel between sites in MN, WI, IA, IN
