Job description

About the Role
Are you energized by coordinating complex technology projects, mentoring emerging leaders, and driving excellence across every phase of execution? We're looking for an experienced technical Project Manager familiar with Division 27/28 who brings structure, clarity, and accountability to fast-paced, technical environments.
In this role, you'll serve as both project leader and mentor, guiding teams through the delivery of structured cabling, audiovisual, access control, CCTV, and DAS/RF systems. You'll act as the operational and cultural anchor for Instrata's low-voltage field teams in the Raleigh market-bridging strategy and execution, and ensuring projects meet the highest standards of safety, quality and client satisfaction.
What You'll Do - Lead with Clarity. Deliver with Confidence.
  • Drive Project Execution: Lead multiple concurrent Division 27/28 projects from kickoff through closeout, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery. Oversee scheduling, budgets, submittals, and resource planning across AV, security, and telecom scopes.
  • Be the Client Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, general contractors, and vendor partners. Maintain consistent, proactive communication on progress, milestones, and challenges.
  • Mentor and Develop Teams: Coach and support junior and field project managers, helping them strengthen communication, documentation, and project control skills. Model composure under pressure and lead with professionalism, empathy, and consistency.
  • Ensure Technical Precision: Review and interpret engineered drawings, RFIs, and submittals for accuracy and constructability. Validate all QA/QC deliverables, test results, and as-built documentation against BICSI, TIA/EIA, and NFPA standards.
  • Manage the Financial Picture: Track budgets, forecasts, and profitability across your projects. Identify and document change conditions, validate labor and material usage, and maintain disciplined cost control.
  • Champion Collaboration: Coordinate with shared services-including Engineering, Estimating, Procurement, QA/QC, and Service-to ensure seamless post-award execution. Lead kickoffs, progress reviews, and post-mortem meetings to drive continuous improvement.
  • Set the Standard: Uphold Instrata's values of professionalism, respect, and accountability in every client interaction and team engagement. Reinforce a culture of safety, quality, and mentorship on-site and in the office.

What You Bring
  • 7-10 years of experience managing large-scale, multi-discipline low-voltage or mission-critical construction projects.
  • Proven success leading teams in structured cabling, audiovisual, access control, or RF/DAS environments.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring or developing junior project managers or field leaders.
  • Proficiency in Smartsheet, Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Certifications preferred: RTPM, PMP, BICSI Technician, or RCDD.
  • OSHA 30 and safety leadership training are preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field-or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Why Join Us?
  • Impact: Lead projects that shape the future of mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Leadership: Guide teams, mentor future PMs, and influence regional growth.
  • Collaboration: Partner with highly skilled technical teams who share your drive for excellence.
  • Growth: Build your leadership trajectory in a company that values accountability and development.
  • Culture: Work in a people-first environment built on respect, professionalism, and partnership.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Primarily office-based with regular site visits for coordination and quality checks.
  • Regular standing, walking, and use of tools or computer-based applications.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Some after-hours work or travel may be required based on project needs.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Ready to Lead What's Next?
If you're a strategic project leader who thrives on bringing people, technology, and process together-and takes pride in developing others along the way-we'd love to meet you. Apply today and help us deliver excellence across every connection at Instrata.
