Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in Indiana requiring at least 1 year of experience and active IN or compact RN licensure.

Details
  • 26-bed Stepdown Intermediate Care Unit in a hospital setting
  • Diverse patient population including cardiac, neuro/stroke, dialysis, post-operative, respiratory, and general med/surg overflow patients
  • Provides care requiring telemetry monitoring, frequent assessment, and specialized interventions for medically complex patients
  • Manages patients with devices including telemetry monitors, IV drips (cardiac, vasoactive, or insulin infusions), central lines, PICC lines, and oxygen therapy (high-flow O2, CPAP/BiPAP)
  • Night shift: 19:00–07:30
  • Floating to other med/surg units may be required
  • 13-week contract
Requirements
  • Active RN license for Indiana (Standard or Compact) currently in hand
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Current BLS certification (AHA)
  • Current ACLS certification (AHA)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
  • Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start
  • Must possess a US Social Security Number and provide a US home address
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Two professional references required
  • Current skills checklist required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Performs comprehensive assessments including respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and hemodynamic status
  • Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and lab results, escalating changes in patient condition to providers as needed
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and case management
  • Educates patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
  • Documents assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the EMR
  • Recognizes early signs of patient deterioration and activates rapid response or escalates care as needed
  • Local candidates are accepted, though a radius rule applies — candidates residing within the facility's radius may be eligible at a reduced pay rate
