varstaff is looking for a Structural Design Engineer - CAbout the Role

We are seeking a contract engineer to support the rapid design, development, and fielding of temporary structures. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders to define requirements, iterate on designs quickly, and deliver vendor-ready packages for fabrication and construction in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to define and clarify structural and functional requirements.

  • Design & Drafting: Translate requirements into vendor-ready design packages suitable for fabrication and construction using CAD software.

  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all structural designs comply with applicable codes, safety standards, and environmental site conditions.

  • Vendor Coordination: Partner with external vendors during fabrication to resolve RFIs and provide design clarifications.

  • Change Management: Incorporate rapid engineering changes and design revisions while maintaining revision-controlled drawing sets.

  • Field Support: Support design reviews and resolve technical questions directly in the field.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: 3+ years of structural, civil, or mechanical engineering experience.

  • Vendor Packages: Proven experience producing fabrication-ready design packages for external manufacturing vendors.

  • Software: Proficiency in relevant CAD and design modeling tools.

  • Adaptability: Proven ability to work and iterate designs quickly in a dynamic environment with evolving requirements.

Preferred (Nice to Have)
  • Experience with temporary or modular structures, including tent structures.

  • Familiarity with anchorage, foundation design, and environmental load considerations for temporary installations.
