including Boysen, Buffalo Bill, Curt Gowdy, Glendo, Guernsey, Keyhole, and Sinks Canyon.GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Wyoming State Parks, Historic Sites, and Trails (SPHST) is seeking hard-working individuals to join our team as Seasonal Law Enforcement Park Rangers in the Cowboy State. Wyoming SPHST manages Wyoming's great outdoor places, including magnificent water-based recreation areas, historic sites, and endless miles of multi-use trails.
The Park Ranger Program is designed to protect park resources, ensure public safety, and safeguard visitor experiences, thereby maintaining safe, secure, and orderly State Parks, Historic Sites, and Trails (SPHST). The SPHST system employs community-oriented policing practices as described by community-oriented policing, specifically tailored to the wide array of needs found within SPHST's multi-use and multi-faceted system. These practices focus on principles such as partnerships, problem-solving, area-wide responsibilities, proactive education and influence, fundamental interpretation and enforcement of rules and regulations, adaptability, and flexibility, which promote public safety, natural resource protection, order, and voluntary compliance.

- Serve in a natural resources law enforcement capacity.
- Candidates must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and variable shifts.
- Provide information and directions to the public.
- Be a productive team member in the Wyoming State Park Ranger program.
- Investigate and resolve visitor complaints.
- Ensure public safety, protection of natural resources, and the enjoyment of parks, historic sites, and trails.
- Explain and/or enforce applicable rules and regulations to park visitors.
- Patrol front and back-country areas by foot, vehicle, boat, horse, and mountain bike as needed.
- Issue warnings and citations to violators, make arrests, report offenses/incidents, and collect evidence, statements, and other relevant information as needed.
- Participate in interpretive educational and public outreach programs as needed.
QualificationsPREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:Preference may be given to candidates with six (6) months of experience in Parks, Natural Resources, Law Enforcement, or a directly related field.
Preference may be given for experience in law enforcement, customer service, public relations, outdoor skills, and mountain biking.
Preference may be given for College courses in Natural Resources Management, Park and Visitor Services Management, General Ecology and Biology, Wildlife Biology, or a related field.
**High School diploma or GED required.
**Must have completed an accredited law enforcement police academy to be eligible for hire in these positions.
**Must possess a valid Driver's License by your starting date.
**Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification within three (3) months of hire.
**Must successfully complete training program(s) that are necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
KNOWLEDGE:- Knowledge of Ranger First philosophy.
- Basic knowledge of recreational activities of the park user, including boating, fishing, hiking, camping, mountain biking, horseback riding, nature study, etc.
- Basic swimming abilities.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to make immediate, important, and critical decisions related to enforcement and emergencies.

NOTES: - FLSA: Non-Exempt
- A complete background investigation and physical and psychological testing will be conducted.

- All testing costs are paid by State Parks & Cultural Resources.
- Limited housing is available.
- State of Wyoming Insurance coverage (Health, Dental, Life, Vision, Ambulance, Short and Long Term Disability) is available on the first of the fourth month of employment for employees working at least 80 hours per month.
- Depending on the work location may work between 10-40 hours per week.
- These are seasonal, temporary positions.
