Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION
Pay: $21.00/hr - $24.00/hr
The Ramp Supervisor safely and efficiently leads and coordinates the efforts of ramp personnel and the timely delivery of all services for airlines as contracted. The Ramp Supervisor takes accountability for safety, operation standards, training, and policy implementation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establishing shift assignments
  • Monitoring and responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of all airline ground support equipment
  • Reporting discrepancies that may exist both functional and mechanical on the ground support equipment
  • Ensures necessary ground equipment is available in the ramp area and bag room for upcoming flights
  • Supervises and coordinates daily activities of employees to ensure safe and effective operations
  • Coordinating between each assigned carrier to ensure that service meets the needs of the carrier to ensure on-time schedules are met
  • Communicating with other supervisors and managers to coordinate activities with other departments
  • Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous materials identification labels, aircraft loading manifest, and baggage routing tags
  • Follow and comply with all federal, state, municipal, airport authority, and carrier rules and regulations
  • Ensure crews are being briefed before flights on positions to take and how the flight will work
  • Load and unload baggage and cargo of various weight and dimensions to and from aircraft and airport baggage areas (baggage make-up area and/or inbound bag room)
  • Ensure ramp areas are safe and free of Foreign Objects Debris (FOD)
  • Ensuring disciplinary procedures are conducted in a fair, timely, and consistent manner
  • Ability to comply with attendance/tardiness standards
  • Able to perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints
  • Receive and maintain GSC qualification
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma of GED preferred
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal history background check
  • 2+ year of relevant experience
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong work ethic
  • Ability to lead a team-oriented environment
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime. If the flight you are working is delayed past your scheduled shift time, you are required to stay until all job responsibilities are completed.
  • Must be able to lift / carry / push / pull and move items of 70 pounds and/or more on a regular basis and repetitively lift weights of 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfaces.
  • Subject to non-DOT drug and/or alcohol testing
  • Ability to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods
