What is a ramp model?

Ramp models are professional models who showcase clothing and accessories on a runway, typically during fashion shows and events. Their main role is to present designers' collections to buyers, media, and the public by walking confidently down the catwalk. Ramp models must possess good posture, poise, and the ability to convey the style and attitude of the garments they wear. They often work with choreographers, designers, and makeup artists to perfect their presentation. The job requires not only physical fitness and grooming but also the ability to handle long hours and high-pressure situations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a ramp model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Ramp Model, you need a polished appearance, physical fitness, and the ability to walk confidently with good posture, typically supported by a professional portfolio and sometimes agency representation. Familiarity with runway techniques, choreography, and understanding of fashion industry standards are often required. Confidence, adaptability, and strong communication skills with designers and directors help set standout models apart. These skills ensure that a model can effectively showcase clothing, maintain professionalism, and meet the high demands of live fashion events.

What are some common challenges ramp models face during fashion shows, and how can they prepare for them?

Ramp models often face challenges such as quick outfit changes, maintaining poise under pressure, and adapting to last-minute changes in choreography or styling. To prepare, it's important to practice walking in different types of footwear, rehearse rapid wardrobe changes, and stay physically fit to handle the long hours and demanding schedule. Building strong communication with stylists, designers, and show directors also helps models adapt smoothly to any unexpected developments on the runway.

Job description

About Ramp

Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $200B in annualized spend flows in and out of 70,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.

The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.

We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what youโ€™ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.

The median Ramp customer saves 5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year โ€“ far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.

If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.

About the Role

We're seeking a driven Associate, Capital Markets to join Ramp's growing Finance and Capital Markets team. This role offers a unique opportunity to help build and scale a best-in-class Capital Markets function while making significant contributions to Ramp's growth.

As a key member of our team, you'll play a pivotal role in optimizing and executing Ramp's funding strategies while leveraging your expertise to help manage our capital partner relationships. Youโ€™ll also serve as a critical cross-functional partner, collaborating closely with teams across accounting, data, engineering, finance, product, treasury, and risk.

This position presents a rare opportunity for professional growth and development, regular exposure to Rampโ€™s leadership team, and the chance to make a true impact at a fast-paced start-up.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Support the Capital Markets Team in live transactions with modeling, structuring, internal memos, lender communication, document review, and document execution

  • Evaluate the impact of various funding strategies under the context of Rampโ€™s broader corporate strategy

  • Engage cross-functionally on key strategic initiatives including product expansion, financial partnerships, bank partnerships, and issuing partnerships

  • Evaluate economic outcomes and capital implications of new products and commercial agreements

  • Manage the day-to-day aspects of Rampโ€™s warehouse facilities and ABS facilities

  • Own the suite of Capital Markets models

  • Ensure the accuracy of the Capital Markets data tapes and assist with rearchitecting them for product changes

  • Identify ways to automate and streamline processes to increase efficiency and scalability

What You Need
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in finance, economics, or related field

  • 3+ years of experience working in a sell-side or buy-side ABS trading, securitization, asset financing-related, leveraged finance, or coverage banking (preferably FIG) role

  • Excellent financial modeling and quantitative data analytics skills

  • Comfortable with large data sets

  • Extremely detail-oriented with a high regard for precision

  • Relationship-minded with excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal

  • Ability to thrive in small, collaborative, and ambiguous environments

  • Ability to blend strategic and tactical skills

  • Familiarity with AI tools

Nice-to-Haves
  • Expertise with AI tools

  • Experience with capital-intensive fintech businesses
