Our North American Industrial Process & Environmental group is searching for an experienced service engineer to support our location in Salt Lake City, UT. The successful candidate will build, install, maintain and repair Raman equipment, primarily in-house and at customer locations, as needed. Will also be able to perform the essential job functions listed below.

Essential Job Functions:

Under general supervision, builds, validates, installs, maintains and repairs HORIBAโ€™s Process Instruments brand of Raman equipment; assists with

Customer support; maintains in-house repair and testing facilities.

  1. Installs, repairs, and maintains HORIBAโ€™s Process Instruments Raman products at customer sites and performs in-house repairs of equipment.
  2. Maintains in-house repair facilities, incl. calibration, repair, and maintenance of Raman spectroscopy analyzers, maintaining test equip.
  3. Provides technical assistance to customers and HORIBAโ€™s Process Instruments depts, including parts and technical question research, and assisting with Requests for Quotations.
  4. Assists with the construction and validation of products, including wiring analyzer boxes, setting up computers, and wiring I/O and AC circuits.
  5. Conduct FAT (Factory Acceptance tests) with the customer before shipping.
  6. Prepare Field Svc Reports for customer invoicing, warranty, labor, and materials charges.
  7. Create and modify electrical schematics and panel layout drawings using AutoCAD.
  8. Interpret technical specifications and translate them into electrical control designs.
  9. Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to ensure drawing accuracy for production and field use.

Skills/Experience Required:

  1. Bachelorโ€™s degree in a technical area such as an Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering degree or equivalent.
  2. Able to demonstrate knowledge of electronics repair, ability to troubleshoot to component level and electronic test equipment.
  3. Knowledge of analyzers typically found in refineries or chemical plants. Theory of operation, set-up, calibration, repair, diagnosing faults, etc.
  4. Basic knowledge of computer programming, Microsoft products and MATLAB.
  5. Background knowledge of spectroscopy and its principles is a plus. The position also includes responsibilities for generating and updating AutoCAD drawings.
  6. The position often requires work beyond a normal workday or workweek.
  7. Must be able to travel, both domestically and internationally. Must be able to drive an automobile and possess a valid driverโ€™s license; must be able to obtain a passport.
