Position Summary
The Research Chemist is responsible for conducting and leading research projects that support the Technical and Business Teams within the Advanced Materials & Catalysts organization. This role applies advanced knowledge of silica and zeolite chemistry, molecular spectroscopy, and analytical characterization techniques to develop innovative solutions, support product development initiatives, and expand scientific understanding of advanced materials.
The position works closely with R&D, manufacturing, business teams, customers, and external partners to execute technical projects, develop analytical methods, interpret complex data, and provide actionable insights that support strategic and operational objectives.
In addition, the Research Chemist contributes to instrumentation development, analytical innovation, technology evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Responsibilities
• Develop, coordinate, and execute complex technical research projects
• Translate project objectives into experimental plans, timelines, and deliverables
• Communicate project status, risks, and technical findings to stakeholders
• Identify opportunities to improve analytical methods and project workflows
• Develop and implement new analytical techniques and experimental processes
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies
• Design and execute experiments to enhance understanding of silica and zeolite properties
• Document and communicate scientific findings through technical reports and presentations
• Perform UV-Vis, FTIR, and Raman analyses on samples from R&D, manufacturing facilities, and customers
• Interpret analytical data and provide technical recommendations
• Maintain analytical records and instrument performance documentation
• Provide analytical support for special technical projects
• Design experiments to address complex analytical challenges
• Troubleshoot analytical issues and recommend improvements
• Deliver data-driven conclusions that support technical and business decisions
• Develop or modify analytical instrumentation for specialized applications
Leadership / Management Responsibilities
• Lead multidisciplinary technical projects across R&D functions
• Coordinate activities with technical and business stakeholders
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define analytical strategies

• Ensure analytical activities meet quality, technical, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry or Materials Science
• Academic emphasis in Molecular Spectroscopy
• 0-3 years of post-doctoral or industry experience following degree completion
• Excellent knowledge of silica and zeolite chemistry, applications, and related materials science fields
• Proven experience with UV-Vis, FTIR, and Raman spectroscopy instrumentation
• Ability to correlate material structure and performance characteristics
• Experience developing analytical methods and experimental approaches
