Hatch currently has an opening Global Lead โ€“ Bus Operations and Service Planning in our Boston, MA office.โ€ฏ This position will support bus operations and service planning projects such as Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), bus network redesign, zero emission transition planning, microtransit, and paratransit. Candidates are not required to have experience in all areas highlighted in this posting. This is an intermediate position requiring 10+ years of experience. 

The ideal candidate is a motivated, results-driven professional interested in operational planning, zero emissions technologies, environmental issues, managing projects, building business opportunities, developing client relationships, and delivering technical expertise and value to our partners and clients. โ€ฏBeing capable of working well with other employees or independently as well as strong oral and written communication skills when interacting with outside vendors and clients is essential for this position.โ€ฏ Candidates should be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of quality.โ€ฏโ€ฏ  

You bring to the role: 

  • BS degree in planning or other related degree.  

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible engineering experience.โ€ฏ 

  • Experience working with major transit agencies. 

  • Experience completing network redesigns of bus networks. 

  • Experience planning for new BRT service. 

  • Experience with business development and proposal development for consulting work. 

 

As the successful candidate, you will: 

  • Manage projects related bus operations and service planning. 

  • Provide technical expertise to support cross-discipline project teams planning, designing and implementing bus and paratransit solutions for our clients. 

  • Complete cost estimates associated with planned projects. 

  • Serve as subject matter expert on bus fleet planning.  

  • Develop cost estimates and life cycle analyses to assess existing bus operations. 

  • Review technical documents such as design plans and other engineering related deliverables. 

  • Produce quality assurance plans and oversee quality control programs. 

  • Prepare technical documents/reports and present to clients, project teams, etc.  

  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships. 

  • Continuous, effective communication and relationship building with clients in the development and implementation of projects.

Base Compensation: $130,000 - $155,000 (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)

  • Paid Time Away from Work: 3-4 weeks of vacation based on experience and company discretion, prorated in the 1st year based on hire date (up to 2.5 weeks can be carried over per year); 10 paid holidays; 10 sick days per calendar year, with the ability to carry-over sick time to a maximum of 40 days to be used for future FMLA-qualifying events; Partial Paid Parental leave up to 12 weeks for birth parents and 4 weeks for non-birth parents
